(This generic Q-Mark lg must never be used withut the Secretariat s permissin.) ALTE Institutinal Affiliate Lg 1

2 GENERAL COMMENTS The ALTE lgs shall nly be used in accrdance with these lg guidelines prvided by ALTE, and fr n ther purpse. Any use f ALTE lgs as stated belw by members r affiliates is in acknwledgement and agreement by members r affiliates that ALTE is the wner f the lg and that the member/affiliate agrees that it will nt d anything that will r may damage r be detrimental t the reputatin r gdwill assciated with the lg r the assciatin. All lgs must always be used in exactly the same frmat (fnt style) and prprtins as given. Re-creatin f any f the lgs must nt under any circumstances be attempted. Institutins using the lgs must als ensure that any designer r printer wrking n its behalf cmplies with this requirement. All lgs are nly pssible in the fllwing clurs: Black Blue 288CV Green 368CV Purple 2612U White (n black/dark backgrund) Institutins may nly use cpies f lgs btained frm the ALTE Secretariat. In any case f dubt as t the permissin f use f any f the ALTE lgs, please cntact the ALTE Secretariat, secretariat@alte.rg It is the respnsibility f all ALTE members and affiliates t ensure that their institutin cmplies with the regulatins set ut in this dcument and must prmptly ntify ALTE in writing f any actual, threatened r suspected infringement f the use f any f the ALTE lgs which cmes t their attentin. All decisins regarding interpretatin f these guidelines will be made by the ALTE Executive Cmmittee, with the exceptin f the Q-Mark lg which is made by the ALTE Standing Cmmittee. Members and affiliates must nt apply t register the ALTE lgs in any cuntry. ALTE reserves the right t amend these guidelines at any time. FULL MEMBERS ALTE Full Members are freely entitled t use the Main ALTE Lg and/r the ALTE Full Member Lg prvided they cmply with the General Cmments abve. This includes, but is nt limited t, use n printed and electrnic certificates, printed and electrnic marketing material and websites. 2

3 Full Members may claim t be members r full members f ALTE and link t the ALTE website (any language versin) n their website, certificates and marketing material. Full Members may use their electrnic r printed membership certificate, subject t the General Cmments abve. Lgs, certificates and claims t membership must nt be used by any rganisatin which is a partner f, but is nt itself, an ALTE member. This als includes instances where the rganisatin is a partner in the prductin f a member rganisatin s examinatins, r ther parties cnnected t the member institutin, fr example examinatin centres. If an institutin ceases t be an ALTE member fr any reasn, the institutin must immediately cease using the lgs, certificates and claims t membership. ASSOCIATE MEMBERS ALTE Assciate Members are entitled t use the Main ALTE Lg and/r the ALTE Assciate Member Lg prvided they cmply with the General Cmments abve. This includes, but is nt limited t, use n printed and electrnic certificates, printed and electrnic marketing material and websites. Assciate Members may claim t be members r assciate members f ALTE and link t the ALTE website (any language versin) n their website, certificates and marketing material. Assciate Members may use their electrnic r printed membership certificate, subject t the General Cmments abve. Assciate Members must nt claim t be full members. Lgs, certificates and claims t membership must nt be used by any rganisatin which is a partner f, but is nt itself, an ALTE member. This als includes instances where the rganisatin is a partner in the prductin f a member rganisatin s examinatins, r ther parties cnnected t the member institutin, fr example examinatin centres. If an institutin ceases t be an ALTE member fr any reasn, the institutin must immediately cease using the lgs, certificates and claims t membership. FULL AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERS WITH A RESOLVED STATUS FOLLOWING AN AUDIT (Q-MARK) Full r Assciate Members wh have undergne an audit and achieved a Reslved status in an Outcme letter may then use the Q-Mark lg, persnalised fr their institutin with their membership number. The Q-mark indicates that ALTE has audited the quality prfile f (an) examinatin(s) and the utcme was reslved. This means that the examinatin(s) audited meet(s) all 17 minimum standards. The utcme will remain valid fr a perid f five years, r until there is a 3

4 significant change in the validity argument fr the successfully audited examinatin(s) (if this is less than five years). The Q-Mark des nt in any way signify that ALTE apprves, endrses r authrises the rganisatins displaying the Q-mark nr its examinatin(s), nly that the particular examinatin(s) has/have passed the audit. Use f the Q-mark relates nly t the audited examinatin(s) and nt t the ALTE member rganisatin as a whle r t ther examinatins prduced by the rganisatin but nt audited by ALTE. Q-Mark lgs must nt be used by any rganisatin which is a partner f, but is nt itself, an ALTE member. This als includes instances where the rganisatin is a partner in the prductin f a member rganisatin s examinatins, r ther parties cnnected t the member institutin, fr example examinatin centres. Permissin t use the Q-mark is dependent n the audit remaining valid. If the rganisatin fails t be re-audited within the specified validity perid, use f the Q-mark must cease immediately. The Q-Mark may be used: n publicity dcuments and ther prmtinal material relating nly t the audited examinatin(s) prduced by the rganisatin n press advertising that relates specifically t the audited examinatin(s) n web pages that relate specifically t the audited examinatin(s) n any electrnic r hard cpy dcumentatin relating t the audited examinatin(s) n any certificate relating t the audited examinatin(s) The Q-Mark must nt be used: n any invice r ther financial dcument n any dcumentatin that is nt specifically related t the audited examinatin(s) in cmmunicatins/dcumentatin generally (e.g. signature) INSTITUTIONAL AFFILIATES Infrmatin regarding use f the lg is given in the Institutinal Affiliate Status Agreement. T clarify: Institutinal Affiliates cannt claim in any medium t be members f ALTE. They can refer t themselves as affiliates, affiliated institutins r institutinal affiliates. Institutinal Affiliates cannt use the Main ALTE Lg, the Full Member Lg, r any Q- Mark lg. Institutinal Affiliates may use the ALTE Institutinal Affiliate Lg t shw affiliatin with ALTE and fr n ther purpse. Institutinal Affiliates may d s in the fllwing ways: n the institutin s fficial website; 4

5 in any fficial publicity, marketing r prmtinal material, electrnic r printed, including pwerpint presentatins etc. Institutinal Affiliates must nt use the ALTE Institutinal Affiliate Lg: n any certificates they issue n any material which presents itself as, r like, a certificate n any invice r ther financial dcument n any dcumentatin that is nt related t the institutin in cnnectin with a message ther than shwing itself as an affiliate f ALTE. Institutins may nly use the ALTE Institutinal Affiliate Lg during the perid f being recgnised as ALTE Institutinal Affiliates. This perid begins when the Affiliate Status Agreement is signed AND when all affiliate fees are paid. The perid ends when the Institutinal Affiliate Status ends, as set ut in Clause 6 f the Affiliate Status Agreement. The Institutin must nt cntinue t use the ALTE Institutinal Affiliate Lg after the perid ends. Lgs and claims t affiliatin must nt be used by any rganisatin which is a partner f, but is nt itself, an ALTE Institutinal Affiliate. This als includes instances where the rganisatin is a partner in the prductin f an Institutinal Affiliate s examinatins, r ther parties cnnected t the Institutinal Affiliate, fr example examinatin centres. Institutinal Affiliates must nt make any claim that their affiliatin with ALTE results in a guarantee f quality fr language assessment, r any such wrding t that effect. ALTE nly prvides a claim t quality when a language assessment has received an ALTE Q Mark fllwing a successful audit. INDIVIDUAL AFFILIATES AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS OR INDIVIDUALS Any individuals, r any ther institutins wh are nt ALTE Members r Institutinal Affiliates, must never use any f the ALTE lgs r claim t be members f ALTE. 5
