3 IREM Curse Cancellatin Plicy The IREM Cancellatin Plicy sectin prvides chapters with infrmatin n hw t cancel r pstpne a Curse ffering, and hw t manage student cancellatins. The IREM Curse Cancellatin Plicy is designed t encurage realistic curse scheduling, and recver bth direct and indirect csts assciated with curse cancellatins. Cancellatins can result in a lss f custmer gdwill and can have the effect f damaging IREM's credibility with students and emplyers. The chapter cancellatin fee is primarily used t ffset marketing and administrative planning effrts made up t the pint f the cancellatin. The chapter cancellatin fee des nt apply t chapters spnsring curses under the Prmter mdel. In this case, the chapter des nt incur any cancellatin fees. Please keep in mind the fllwing pints when determining if yur chapter shuld cancel a curse ffering: Curse Cancellatin by Chapter Business Days Prir t the first day f the Curse ffering: Check the curse rster (via the IREM website / Chapter Services hme page / Yur Chapter s Curse Rsters) t determine the number f students registered. If the number f students is significantly belw the number yur chapter planned fr, all marketing effrts have been exhausted, rescheduling the curse t anther time perid is nt an ptin, and there aren t enugh registratins fr IREM Headquarters t cver expenses under the Prmter mdel, yur chapter may chse t cancel the ffering r mre business days prir t the Curse ffering: Chapter must ntify IREM Headquarters in writing ( is acceptable) f its decisin t cancel a curse. A cancellatin fee will be assessed if IREM Headquarters is nt ntified in writing. The Chapter can expect t receive a cnfirmatin (via / phne call) frm IREM Headquarters that the cancellatin has been acknwledged. 3. The cancellatin fee charged t chapters is equal t the chapter ryalty fr six students n all curses, regardless f ttal enrllment. 4. Cancellatin fees apply t IREM curses and the Management Plan Skills Assessment (MPSAXM) nly; cancellatin fees are nt assessed fr exams. 5. If the chapter cancels 10 r mre business days prir t the start f the curse, the chapter will nt incur the cancellatin fees (i.e., chapter ryalty fr six students). 6. If the chapter cancels a curse, regardless f cancellatin date, the chapter will reimburse the instructr fr airfare r ther nn-refundable expenses that had been purchased prir t the cancellatin date. 3

If the chapter cancels less than 10 business days prir t the start f the curse, the chapter will cmpensate the instructr fr 50% f the instructr fee and incur cancellatin and ther fees as specified abve and in the Educatin Prvider Licensing Agreement and IREM Curse Fees and Ryalties schedule. 8. If the chapter pts t cancel a curse less than 10 business days prir t the start f the curse, it is fully respnsible fr any and all student-assciated fees (student travel, transprtatin, airline reservatin/change fees, htel reservatin/depsit fees, rental car fees, etc.), regardless f the reasn fr curse cancellatin. The student registratin fee shuld be fully refunded. 9. The nly exceptin t the curse cancellatin fee wed IREM Headquarters less than 10 business days prir t the curse ffering is due t severe weather cnditins at the curse site lcatin. Severe weather shall be defined as, but nt limited t, any unnatural weather cnditins (hurricane, trnads, fire, severe strms, earthquakes, and flding, ther natural disasters) that wuld prevent the curse frm cntinuing as riginally planned, and physically prevent students frm attending the curse. In the case f severe weather cnditins, the chapter will nt be assessed a curse cancellatin fee. The Chapter must cntact IREM Headquarters as sn as pssible prir t the curse ffering including the day r days f the ffering t discuss the curse cancellatin and next steps. Once IREM Headquarters has acknwledged Curse cancellatin IREM staff will update the IREM website with the apprpriate infrmatin (remving the cancelled curse ffering, r updating the riginal curse date with the updated date if available). The chapter is fully respnsible fr cmmunicating with the Instructr and ntifying him/her f the cancellatin. This applies regardless f whether the Chapter r IREM Headquarters is handling curse registratin. The chapter is respnsible fr cmmunicating with and ntifying each student f the cancellatin, if chapter is respnsible fr curse registratin (this includes cntacting all the students n the Curse Rster, available n the IREM website / Chapter Services hme page / Yur Chapter s Curse Rsters). If IREM Headquarters handles yur chapter s registratin, IREM Headquarters will be respnsible fr cmmunicating with and ntifying each student registered fr yur cancelled curse. Cmmunicatin t bth the Instructr(s) and Student must take place via e- mail and phne as sn as pssible after the chapter has ntified IREM Headquarters f the curse cancellatin. IREM Headquarters is nt respnsible fr the chapter s methd/prcess f cmmunicatin t the Instructr(s) r Student(s), nr shall it be held liable fr any chapter-initiated miscmmunicatin/misinfrmatin. 4
5 IREM Student Classrm Curse Cancellatin Plicy The IREM student curse cancellatin plicy is available n the IREM website at Cancellatin-Plicy.pdf NOTE t IREM Chapters RE: $75 Administrative Fee If a student cancels his r her registratin less than 10 business days but a minimum f three business days prir t the start f the curse, the student may either receive a full refund (less a $75 ) r transfer t anther curse. The $75 is nt perceived as a significant additinal incme stream fr curse spnsrs r IREM Headquarters. Rather, the fee shuld deter students frm cancelling within a timeframe that des nt enable the spnsr t replace that student within reasnable amunt f time. The entity that handles registratin fr a given curse determines hw the $75 shuld be prcessed, and wh keeps it (chapter r IREM Headquarters). See the chart belw fr details.
