The presentation will be on there as from last month W/O Nikki Knoetzen He is our sector manager, so he represents the whole of Sector 2, his cell phone number is not an emergency number for break inns, and he is there for small problems to be sorted out. He is the liaison for the sector and thank you for attending this evening. 2 There is a lot of negativity around crime, I can assure you crime is not as bad as what you think it is, a lot of people are putting things on Face book and talking about crime. They are making Table View and surrounds look very bad. Your property is your largest investment, it is difficult to sell homes due to the negativity about crime, and people like to blow things out of proportion: Difference in crime Between September and October All assaults Down 8% (Less than 40) 2. 8 Table View Neighborhood Watch Without the Table View Neighbourhood Watch those Crime figures would be in the 100 s if not higher, they are normal people that stopped complaining and decided to be eyes and ears for the police, they walk and drive around and keep and eye on the area. They also help the Police with making arrests. Gary the previous Captain of Sector 2 started up Sector2 with the neighborhood watch and did this for 3 years, he was a very good leader not easy being at the top. Everyone seems to find fault, he has decided to step down and selected a Vice Captain and elected Joseph Keller which I believe the best choice he could have made. He just jumped away and put things in place to make the community a better safer place Joseph Keller : sector2capt@tvnw.co.za for enquiries rather send him an if you have queries There is a 24 Hr emergency number and people phone for all sorts of problems many that is not really for the members to attend to, NHW put in many hours to assist the public. The TVNW does not replace the police; they are all volunteers and members of the community. They put in many hours to assist in fighting against crime by being the eyes and ears for the Police. They assist in every way from rescuing animals, crime prevention, natural disasters, medical emergencies and so much more. Sector 2 proudly now has 280 members of which 114 are Radio lined members. The Power of the TVNW Radio Network a couple of weeks ago there was a barge that fell on the N1 due to hitting the bridge, due to a member who was behind the bakkie, he saw what happened and radioed a call for help, the person on the other side relayed the call and he got hold of emergency medical services, Fire and Rescue and all the major roll players, within 5 minutes everyone was on scene. The neighborhood watch member stayed on the scene until he was in ambulance, he held his hand, and if it was not for the radio and the member that guy would have died. Known as the Golden Hour every second is vital you have 1 hour to save a life. The street Captain of the CPF Chairman s Street saw a black vehicle parked outside his house, he has 3 small children and a domestic that takes care of them. The domestic did not answer the call when called and a call was put out and over the NHW radio network. Within seconds there was response and by the time he got to his house (2 minutes later) there were 3 neighbourhood members already there. Just after that a call came through that a small girl got knocked over at Letter Land. Capt Nimb asked for assistance a call was put out on radio, neighbourhood watch members were on the scene in minutes, the child was protected, cones were up that is amazing through the power of the radio network it is a life saver.

9 If you are interested: Monday evenings at 7pm - Parklands Police Station Information session (Come listen to David Papa 8), bring R140 and ID book for finger prints and get your Police Clearance. All they expect from you is to be eyes and ears, you can just park your car and watch, you do not have to drive around, all we need is that you put decals on your car and orange light on top and be visible. Feedback Parklands / Sunningdale Street committees: Hendrik du Plessis: sector2streetcommittee@cpftableview.co.za Just as important as neighborhood watch, by just knowing your neighbors you can help. You need to get involved. Contact Hendrik, this is the best form of security to join a street committee. We have 118 street committees and 8 potential. There are over 3500 Street Committee members. A Street committee coordinators job is to knock on doors and get neighbours involved, if you need to find anything out regarding crime contact Chris Visser. The CPF has suggested each Street Committee to do their own numbering, endless complaints about it not legal etc, it is important for the house numbers to be clear for emergencies, just paint it white on black, black on white just do it and if someone wants to complain let them do it, CPF has the backing of Councilor Heather Brenner, Police and Cluster. If you have neighbours that do not want to do this, just leave it and do the rest. Councilor Brenner has acknowledged that she will back this and happy that it is in the minutes. Street Braai Cherry Hills had a street braai in their local park last month. Operation - Get to know your Neighbours. You need to prevent from becoming a crime statistic by knowing who should be in your street and who should not. Do you need permission? YES. The CPF and SAPS need the community to stand together to combat crime and the best way is to get to know your neighbours, so - JUST DO IT: We will apologize later. M12 Opened 29 October minutes from R27 free flowing traffic - opened 2 days ago, unfortunately neither Table View Police Forum, Table View Neighbourhood Watch or Table View Rate Payers were invited. The area around Parklands Main Road extension / Dartford Road has been cleared all the way to the railway line and the new bridge. Rivergate Development area is cleared, numerous plots already sold in Rivergate Du Noon and Site5 a stone s throw away.

10 Eclipse Park Eye sore, been writing to Councilor Brenner for months no one seems to want to do anything about it, numerous s have been sent. Graffiti painted on the walls, gang markings etc, and uncle Ken paints over these continually. Please log complaints on City of Cape Town s website, put pressure on them. Who is the Landlord? 4 Sectional Title blocks Oasis owns 75%, Italian guys and a third person. Plans were drafted to gate it and approved end of May and the Italian did not want to pay, he has no problem with them living there. Landlords do not care and numerous complaints to Problem Buildings and nothing is been done. Councilor Brenner confirmed she is keeping an eye on the process and complaints. Vagrants: This is our fault We put computers outside, pc boards have gold inside the vagrants take this apart and sell it. We are too lazy to take goods to a tip site at Killarney. We dump, couches, whole lounge suit put out on pavements, Washing lines have steel in that they can sell it, washing machines etc, etc. There are many new faces in the area, a lot are gang members they are very aggressive, do not argue with them phone the police or Neighborhood Watch. The Police made an arrest in the week and he had many gang tattoos on him. Stop feeding them; Stop supporting them by leaving food on dustbins. CPF have requested SAPS to do finger Print checks (Max I) and keep eyes on them. What can you do assist? Give Responsibly: Rather give to TLC Foundation Colleen Petersen. Situated on the Police Table View SAPS, 18 Pentz Drive, Table View. info@tlcprojects.org.za An example of what happens when Dustbin owners are irresponsible; they supply free transport for crime, flat Screen TV s where found inside two dustbins using the dustbins to transport stolen items. Neighbourhood Watch and SAPS caught 4 guys in two different incidents on the same day with dustbins and this is what was found. They had already broken into 3 homes.

12 Our Bush Community Takke Gat 1 Council Tap, no electricity, no phone informal Structures, 70 grownups stay there. They have toilets that are provided by City of Cape Town and they are cleaned once a month by City of Cape Town Some of the residents have stayed there for 28 years Regularly visited by SAPS, CPF, TLC and other government organisations, they are part of our community, the biggest problem they have there is drinking on a Friday a little fighting other than that they are peaceful. Who does the land belong to? This whole area belongs to De Villiers Graaff Trust, Managed by Milnerton Estates and sold by Aska All the roads in Parklands are built by Aska which is part of the development contributions. If Aska homes want to sell off land they have to build the roads So council are supporting what we see? There is nothing wrong with it, they have been there for 28 years, and we have to be humane the end of Table View was Raats Drive, first plot was sold on corner of Raats and Janssens Road, June 1997, then Parklands came the next 16 years. When Raats Drive was the end of Table View these guys where there, they never came to us we went towards them. Council is going to move them again. Blouberg Vlei Plaas No Water- no council tap no electricity no Phones. 2 Farm homes 10 grownups staying there. No toilet. Residents have been staying there for 25 years. Regularity visited by SAPS, CPF, TLC and other government organisations. They are wood sellers in the area. If they need water or the toilet they walk to Takke Gat

13 Spoor wee 3 council taps- no electricity- no phones(1 Broken). 9 informal structures - 17 grownups live there. Toilets cleaned once a month by council. Community leader is Rasta - been staying there for 20 years. Regularly visited by SAPS, CPF Chairman Sector2,TLC, and other organisations. It is exactly 3km from Spoorwee to M12 Bridge. Goats and goat pen. It is very clean. Will be moving to Wolve Rivier, a farm in Morningstar which will be used to move the community there late next year possibly by August / September Councillor Brenner responds, She wiould not put that time on it but that is what the community have been told Environmental: Greenbelt Cleanup: Riaan Schoeman: sector2environmental@cpftableview.co.za Taxis: It s always the Taxis Always, always!! Nonsense, motorbikes, motorists, - who go through the stop streets, every morning standing in Pentz drive, maybe 3 or for Taxis come past, but the amount of Sedans that fly past in the wrong direction to pass by, we looking at about 30. Couple of weeks ago a lady was knocked down in Blaauwberg Road by a Taxi, the Traffic Department was called for an operation the following Monday and all Traffic did the whole day was fine Sedans (Residents of this Community) for traffic violations like skipping stop streets right in front of the Traffic officials. We must also look how we drive and not always point fingers to Taxis. CPF will be given an address by council so that you can start sending complaints regarding Taxis driving on the BRT, it will be posted on their Website. 16 ATM Machines out of the Public Eye Be very aware of ATM machines that are not monitored. This is a great risk. FNB at Super Spar and Flamingo Square. Go inside shopping centres. M12 Bridge over River The Police stations is very far from this, this road is intended to be used in the day time. Friday s, Saturday s and Sunday s are a huge concern. Criminals could place rocks in the middle of the road which could cause you to have an accident and become a victim of a crime. Don t cycle on this road you are going to be robbed, stay away until cameras are put up. Heading for Silly Season Last month 4 suicides. Ask for help. The mess people leave behind is terrible, please share this, the suicide note left behind is never seen by the family or person it was intended for. It is kept as evidence by the Police.. South African Depression & Anxiety Group Suicide Crises Line / SMS Lifeline Western Cape (021) Crisis Guy Fawkes 5 November 2013 Area opposite KFC Beachfront to Dolphin Beach Hotel NHW - about 60 members will be assisting with CPF, Law Enforcement, SA Paramedics, Disaster Manager, Traffic, Fire, Police, and ER24. Law Enforcement is managing the whole beach from here to Melkbos. NHW will have medics assisting the community on their own time and expenses. 3 rd will be Fireworks as well. The land was Purchased for 11 million Rand. They do not know yet when they will be building as per Councillor Brenner but it will happen. Taxi Rank at Bayside, should council not be looking at a more permanent solution on moving them. Taxis have come on Board 100% due to the new BRT they are moving and they will not be on the routes and if they do they can be taken off. Goods that are stolen and found in bins what happens to this? Goes to the police station if the owner can identify it they can have it back, if it is not claimed it becomes state property and the state can then auction it or if illegal e.g. wine that has been re labelled that wine has to be destroyed.

23 If there are serial numbers on stolen goods, e.g. TV s, the police can trace it and return it to the owners. How long does the process of stolen goods take? If the serial number is on the goods and it is registered on the system they will immediately contact the owners. If they cannot trace the owner it is destroyed or sold at public auction. Will goods not be kept as evidence? If an Attorney calls for it to be brought as evidence in court to prosecute yes but it will be given back once the court case is done. Eclipse Park there must be something we can do. The only thing is to have Law Enforcement put pressure on the property owner. Due to the PIE Act they must be removed by a court order. JP Smith and Councillor Brenner have been contacted and asked for help they are working at. If the owner gives written permission to Table View Neighbourhood to remove them? Falls under the PIE Act you cannot do it. Can you define the difference between SAPS, Law Enforcement and Metro? SAPS are National Government they are in charge of the country, paid out of National coffers, then you got 9 Provinces e.g. Western Cape is run by Helen Zille.

24 Law Enforcement and Metro fall under the City of Cape Town and are paid from our taxes, City coffers Law enforcement only does city by laws. Metro Police enforce the Criminal Procedure Act, Road Traffic Act and Communal by laws. Trespassing, if you find someone jumping over your wall into private property, are you saying SAPS will not do anything? SAPS will come and attend to your complaint.
