Leave Balances - State Employee to University Employee All UW employees now under Chapter 36 UW not automatically assuming leave balances of classified employees moving to UW employment Discretionary if a division wants to take earned leave credits (earned vacation, sabbatical) No obligation to rectify leave deficiencies the employee incurred in a state agency outside the UW

Duplicate Employee IDs Increase in duplicate Empl IDs for new employees Please review both HRS & EPM when creating a new employee to avoid duplicate Empl IDs Search by Name, DOB, SSN Correcting these records requires manual processing

Order of Terminations Benefits Primary Flag at Termination Benefits Primary Flag will automatically change upon a job termination if there is another active job. HR should work with benefits to monitor and adjust the flag The benefits flag will move in real time to the lowest active empl record.

Order of Terminations Benefits Primary Flag at Termination If an employee has multiple jobs at termination, ALWAYS terminate the secondary jobs BEFORE the primary job (that has the benefits flag) Benefits primary flag is the main driver for benefits eligibility and determines from which job benefits are taken (or not taken!)

Annual Benefits Enrollment Copayment: A fixed amount (for example, $15) you pay for a covered health care service, usually when you receive the service. The amount can vary by the type of covered health care service. Coinsurance: Your share of the costs of a covered health care service, calculated as a percent (for example, 20%) of the allowed amount for the service. You pay co-insurance plus any deductibles you owe. For example, if the health insurance or plan s allowed amount for an office visit is $100 and you ve met your deductible, your co-insurance payment of 20% would be $20. The health insurance or plan pays the rest of the allowed amount. Deductible: The amount you owe for health care services your health insurance or plan covers before your health insurance or plan begins to pay. For example, if your deductible is $1000, your plan won t pay anything until you ve met your $1000 deductible for covered health care services subject to the deductible. The deductible may not apply to all services. 24
