1 Forex Weekly Report Powered by Future Investment Monday 24 Dec 2018 Market Overview Political issues are cropping up everywhere, and it is possible that Europe may see significant leadership turnover just as debt and growth concerns have started to make waves again. To wit, leadership issues will be prevalent starting immediately: Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michael has submitted his letter of resignation: French President Emmanuel Macron may face a no-confidence vote over the gilet jaunes or yellow vests movement : and the Spanish government s ruling mandate has proven weak, and fresh elections could emerges shortly. The US Dollar saw mixed reaction, rising against the pro-risk currencies and falling against the anti-risk ones. US government bond prices rose, reflecting a flight to safety. Sentiment linked crude oil prices also weakened, but not enough to offset gains from yesterday s impressive rally. The Japanese Yen and Swiss France outperformed as carry trades unwound. With that in mind, S&P 500 futures are pointing lower which suggests that Asia Pacific benchmark stocks indexes may end the year another day lower. As such as Japanese Yen may rally as the Australian and New Zealand Dollars fall short. Upcoming year promises to be not easy one. Policymakers will have to deal with slowing economics, deteriorating business climate and consumer sentiment. Looks unlikely that 2019 will become a crisis year for developed countries, having been marked by recession in the USA or Europe. However, during the year, crisis processes may actively brewed. There are some points of weaknesses that are worth to pay attention to next year: Debt burden in EM countries, particularly in China. Consequences and probable development of trade conflicts. Hard lending in developing countries. Tighten of the Fed policy. Stock markets fall could turn into the real economic problems. It is possible that the Dollar will experience some pressure at first, as the markets are confident in more dovish position of the Fed under Trump s pressure. As a whole, the dollar index is capable to develop its growth. Depending on the combination of factors, we could see strengthening by 5-10%. In Asian market, China could have a significant impact on the regional vehicle market and regional economic growth. At the top of list is the trade meeting scheduled to take place between the USA and China at the end of the first quarter.
