1 Agenda Item 8C CITY OF FERNDALE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION FROM: SUBJECT: Loyd Cureton, Director of Public Works Harding Park Memorial Play Structure SUMMARY & BACKGROUND: In memory of their daughter, Kayla, Russ and Susan White (long-time Ferndale residents) are seeking Council permission to pay for a play structure to be put up at Harding Park. The proposed memorial play structure would include a free-standing glass-fiber-reinforced polymer penguin. Harding Park was chosen by Mr. and Mrs. White because they live close by and remember how often their daughter enjoyed playing there while she was growing up. Per the Council Policy regarding Naming of City Facilities and Lands, staff brought the request to name the structure after the White s Daughter to the Parks and Rec Board. The Park and Rec Commission recommends Council approval provided that the proposed structure matches the color theme at Garbutt Park and it is installed with two years of the Council approval date. Shipment: Order shall ship within days after GameTime's receipt and acceptance of your purchase order, color selections, approved submittals, and receipt of deposit, if required. Installation: Shall be by a Certified GameTime Installer. Customer shall be responsible for scheduling coordination and site preparation. Site should be level and permit installation equipment access. Purchaser shall be responsible for unknown conditions such as buried utilities, tree stumps, bedrock or any concealed materials or conditions that may result in additional labor or material costs. Payment terms for installation is Net 10 Days. Exclusions: Unless specifically included, this quotation excludes all site work and landscaping; removal of existing equipment; acceptance of equipment and off-loading; storage of goods prior to installation; equipment assembly and installation; safety surfacing; borders and drainage provisions.
