2 Abut Bramptn Manr Academy Bramptn Manr Academy is a mixed, cmprehensive, schl in East Ham with 1700 students f which 170 (t grw t 300) are in the Sixth Frm. Rated utstanding in all categries by Ofsted in June 2012 and perfrming in the tp 1% f schls natinally fr pupil prgress in each f the last fur years, it is nt surprising that this is the mst versubscribed schl in the area. GCSE results in 2013 are the highest in the Lcal Authrity; the prprtin f students achieving the English Baccalaureate is ver duble the natinal average; and analysis shws that all grups f students (by gender, ethnicity, prir attainment) are thriving in this high-perfrmance culture. A selective, academic Sixth Frm was added t the existing schl in September Its first set f public examinatin results are the best in the brugh with 57% f all AS Level results being grades A-B and 79% grades A-C. The schl estate is impressive, with utstanding facilities in all curriculum areas hused in mdern buildings in a large green field site. All areas have excellent ICT prvisin and are exceptinally well resurced fr learning. The staff cmprise 120 teachers and a further 60 supprt staff, in additin t which we are jined by cleaning and catering staff emplyed by external cntract prviders. Becming an Academy Bramptn Manr became a Cnverter Academy in April This was an ptin nly pen t Gd and Outstanding schls and enabled them t manage their wn affairs, free f lcal authrity cntrl. The gvernrs f the schl tk this decisin in rder t secure greater cntrl ver decisin-making and finance in rder t direct significantly greater resurce twards teaching and learning. Since that bld decisin, schl perfrmance has gne frm strength t strength supprted by substantial capital investment and staffing expansin. Until nw, the schl has been a singletn academy, run by the Bramptn Manr Academy Trust. Hwever, the schl s success has been such that the Department fr Educatin (DfE), The Schls Netwrk and, mst recently, Bris Jhnsn have all asked the schl t take a leading rle in supprting ther schls which need t imprve. This is all very flattering and has added greatly t the prestige f the schl. Hwever, the award f Academy Spnsr status by the DfE in June f this year significantly changes the size and remit f ur rganisatin and presents new challenges and pprtunities. Cnversin t a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) Frm 1 January 2014 Bramptn Manr Academy will becme the frmal spnsr f Langdn Schl. Langdn were placed in Special Measures by Ofsted earlier this year and have been required by the DfE t becme an academy under the leadership f an apprved academy spnsr. The Academies Minister has nw cnfirmed Bramptn Manr as the preferred spnsr and all f the apprpriate cnsultatin, emplyment transfer, prperty and asset transfer prcesses are currently underway. In rder t becme a spnsr f anther academy the legal status f ur existing academy trust has t change frm a single academy trust t a multi academy trust. The new trust will drp the wrd academy frm its title and will be knwn as Bramptn Manr Trust. Frm the date f cnversin this Trust will becme the emplyer f all staff and the custdian f all funding and assets in bth schls. In additin, the Trust will becme fully accuntable fr the perfrmance and prgress f bth schls and will be charged with taking all necessary measures t ensure imprved utcmes fr students. Whilst there will be a significant amunt f sharing best practice between schls, staff will cntinue t be emplyed slely by their current schl. This situatin may change as the partnership develps, but frm the start f the spnsrship there will nly be tw rles which span bth schls in the trust: the Executive Principal, and this pst, the Executive Directr f Finance and Operatins.

3 Jb Descriptin Executive Directr f Finance & Operatins Salary: Cmpetitive based n experience Strategic Leadership rle As a member f the Senir Leadership Team (SLT) the pst hlder will: Prvide clear infrmatin, advice and recmmendatins t the SLT, Lcal Gverning Bdies and Bard f Directrs regarding the strategic develpment f service supprt, utilisatin f the trust s assets and business activities t ensure the best pssible learning envirnment fr students Have a management verview f all supprt services acrss the schls within the Multi- Academy Trust Ensure the schl makes the best pssible use f resurces thrugh effective planning, cnsidering all financial and ther resurce implicatins Ensure an effective link between the schl s financial plan and the annual schl develpment plan - necessary t ensure cmpliance with all financial and ther regulatins Participate in and represent the schl within the lcal netwrk f Finance and Business Managers Line manage supprt staff as required and participate in Perfrmance Management, including relevant prfessinal learning pprtunities Maintain an understanding f current initiatives which wuld have an impact n the schl and plan fr and implement new initiatives Attend meetings f the Senir Leadership Team, Lcal Gverning Bdies and the Bard f Directrs. Incme Generatin, marketing and liaisn Using cmmercial flair, prmte and market the schls t a variety f audiences t raise the prfile with the lcal cmmunity t seek and secure spnsrship Identify ptential funding surces and liaise with funding agencies t secure further funding grwth fr the schls within the trust Maximise incme generatin within the eths f the schls Ensure best value principles are adpted Act as pint f cntact with central and ther agencies with regard t grant applicatins, gifts and ther dnatins Ensure effective liaisn with ther schls. 4 Financial Planning, Management and Reprting Prepare the Trusts three year financial plan and a detailed annual budget f apprximately 25 millin Develp and maintain the financial management and accunting systems fr the schls Prepare regular management accunts fr budget hlders Prvide detailed management accunts fr the Directrs and Executive Principal and reprt n the financial state f the schls accrding t an agreed schedule, reprting immediately any exceptinal prblems Set bjectives fr financial management and service supprt t mnitr prgress and advise n any necessary remedial actins Use financial management infrmatin, especially benchmarking tls, t analyse trends and identify pprtunities fr greater efficiency Prepare the financial reprts estimates and cmpletin f financial returns as required by the Bard f Directrs and any relevant bdies Prepare all financial returns fr the DfE, LA, EFA and ther central and lcal gvernment agencies within statutry deadlines. T be respnsible fr sales and purchases, lettings and all business activities Research and cmplete funding bids t external bdies Ensure the schls receive value fr mney Finance and Managing Resurces Develp apprpriate financial regulatins and wrk with budget hlders t ensure cmpliance Devise apprpriate accunting prcedures t ensure the effective peratin f financial cntrls within the schls Prepare and maintain the Trusts risk registers. Review and maintain the Trusts data prtectin, equality, anti-discriminatry law and Health and Safety plicies. Develp and implement the Trusts financial and service supprt plicies, systems and prcedures Ensure each schl meets all its financial bligatins Advise Directrs and the Executive Principal n audit arrangements as required by financial regulatins Liaise with auditrs, facilitate all audit arrangements and implement audit requirements Ensure any tax bligatins are discharged crrectly and effectively. Prepare, implement and mnitr the peratin f plicies cncerning buying and rdering f all schl(s) supplies and services. Prepare annual csted staffing plans fr apprval by the Gverning Bdy. Bids and cntracts Secure bid-based cmpetitive funds by effective use f bidding systems and cntacts.

5 Negtiate, manage and mnitr cntracts, tenders and agreements fr the prvisin f services t the schls within the Trust. Purchase, either directly r indirectly, the energy supplies fr the schls within the Trust. Arrange the facilities f each schl t include: Catering Transprt, including minibuses and drivers Bkings fr schl facilities, and prvisin f facilities fr additinal tuitin ut f schl hurs, including music. Cleaning services Grunds maintenance ICT Seek prfessinal advice n insurance and advise the Directrs and Executive Principal n the apprpriate insurances fr the schls within the Trust. Implement the apprved insurances, and handle any claims that arise Premises and health and safety management Manage the maintenance f the schls sites and buildings, the preparatin f maintenance schedules and the efficient peratin f all facilities n the prperty. Oversee the supply f lighting, heating, dmestic ht water, cking, ventilatin, water sftening, energy cnservatin, etc. Take respnsibility fr elements f fire safety and the assciated risks t the schl thrugh the prcess f risk assessment. In cperatin with the fire service, manage the installatin and maintenance f equipment fr prtectin against, and escape frm, fire. Initiate and keep recrds f regular fire practices and alarm tests. Ensure emergency prcedures are current and timely. Manage the security f the schls sites. Manage the upkeep f playing fields, gardens, all-weather surfaces, tennis curts and land drainage. Ensure the maintenance f bundaries, ftpaths, rads and rights f way. Purchase, repair and maintain all furniture and fittings. Understand health and safety regulatins, particularly the main issues specific t each schl and hw they relate t students, staff, visitrs, cntractrs and ther users f schl premises and facilities. Manage the letting f each schl s premises t utside rganisatins and schl staff, and the develpment f extended schls activities, with particular reference t the lcal cmmunity. Acquire and dispse f land and buildings as authrised by the Executive Principal and the Bard f Directrs.

6 Draw up utline specificatins fr new buildings, btaining tenders, btaining planning permissin, and liaising with building cntractrs and architects. Use risk assessment tls t establish hazards within each schl and fr schl visits. Knw and be aware f the imprtance f a cmprehensive disaster and recvery plan and actin the plan respnsibly if necessary. Implement risk management and lss preventin strategies t reduce insurance csts Facilities Management and technical supprt Manage each schl s asset management plan, including partnerships with all partner rganisatins. Ensure cmpliance with relevant legislatin Prvide strategic leadership t thse respnsible fr key supprt functins Management and administrative services supprt Manage each schl s financial and administrative cmputer netwrk systems. Oversee the implementatin f apprpriate infrmatin management systems; and the full cmputerisatin f the administratin accunting and recrd system. Obtain the necessary licences and permissins and ensure their relevance and timeliness.
