10 ESIF & dual use Economic and social cohesion, within the meaning of the Treaty, does not cover investments in military equipment or activities. As such, the Structural Funds and the other instruments of cohesion policy cannot be used in support of such investments. Where investments are "dual-use" in nature (so that the resulting infrastructure is available both for military and civilian operators), the Structural Funds can provide financial assistance. However, such assistance can be provided only with a view to assisting the attainment of the civilian objectives.

18 Dual use support guide Provide ideas, tips and guidance on how companies (SMEs) and public authorities (Regions) could develop dual-use strategies Clarify the eligibility rules for dual-use projects funded by EU instruments, such as COSME, Horizon 2020 and the European Structural and Investment Funds

19 Aquitaine Workshop "Regional strategies and dual use technologies" Aquitaine Développement Innovation & European Commission June 2015, Bordeaux Aims: organise a peer review of 4 regional dual use strategies (Aquitaine, Bretagne, Podkarpacie and Andalucía) & exchange best practices facilitate networking and matchmaking between SMEs with an interest in cross-border dual use activities.
