C onfh'mation of Agenda STANDING ITEMS : Minute s Seniority List, Unclassified Reports The minutes were approved at the F ebruary 1 7, meeting. OPSEU had requested a seniority list for seasonal staff. Management indicated that the list is almost complete. The li st will b e sent b efore the end o f June, Provincial S cho o ls Branch Emp loyee Relations C ommittee OP SEU will provide a list of concerns with entries on the unclassified li st. Management wi ll revie w and respond. OP SEU wi shes to further review the draft terms of reference and will provide comments b efo re the next MERC. OPSEU requested an update. Management indicated discussions are ongoing. The D eputy Minister of Education has cho sen to champion issues related to mental health in the workplace. A propo sal to expand the mentorship pro am to bargaining unit staf is being discussed at the Assistant Deputy Mini ster level. OP SEU noted that the ev aluation o f the Northern pilot proj ect was expected at the end of April. An update was requested. Management indi cated that the p i l o t has no t b een comp l eted. The management MERC C o - chair will attend the two BERC meetings po st June 2 1, Management wi l l provi d e Mini stry specific information to MERC memb ers. Management reaffirmed it s commitment to share the re sults with the MERC members as soon as it i s availab l e. PSB Engagement Survey NEW BUS INES S OPSEU requested an update. Management indicated that suggestions have been collected and categorized and some implementation teams have been established. Action has not progressed as expected, pending the appointment of a new director. Addressing staf engagement issues is scheduled to be a fo cus of the up coming BERC meeting. Education Oficers Management clarified " _e diferences between the OPSEU Education Bargaining Unit Officer duties and tho se o f the AMAPCEO Education Oficers in the Integrity Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat and the Student Success / Learning to 1 8 branche s. 4 G8 G2 0 S ummits Bill 1 68 Rollout-Plan S e a s on al B en efits Transfer of Early Learning from CYS to EDU OP SEU requested an : pdate as to information that has been sent to staf. It is anticipated that there will be transportation disruptions. Communication to sta f, including Ques ons and Answers, has been p o sted on my OP S. Key mes s ages : s ervi c es continue, managers and employees need to discuss issues in advance, and managers need to be fl exib le with al ternati v e work arrangem ent s. The Ministry is working on a ro! l -out plan, it has been waiting on further information from the centre. A memo is going out to managers today to identify their responsibilities. Re violence risk assessment is b eing rolled -out and i s exp ected to b e comp l eted by D ecemb er CERC has agreed to revert to the manual system for alerting the carrier of s easonal staff returning in S eptemb er. In order to accomplish thi s, the list o f returning sta ff needs to b e pro vi ded in August. Management confirmed that it does not anticipate any problem with meeting that time frame. An overview was provided o f the transfer o f child care programs from the Ministry for Chil&en and Youth Services (CYS) to the Ministry of Education. Eight sta transferred as an intact policy unit from CYS including 1 0P S EU repres ented emp loye e. The purpo se of the c ange is to provi de an integrated childcare education system. Responsibility for con<tract management will transfer to the Ministry of Education in the fat CYS has determined that no CYS staf would transfer as a re suk o f the change, and that there would b e no j ob The ro l l -out p lan will b e provi ded to the next Joint Health and S afety Committee, once comp l eted. Management will confm-n the membership on the Joint Health and Safety Commitee before the end o f June

Ch anges to th e Ontario T eachers ' Pension Plan Workp lace D is crimin ation and Hara s sment Prevention (WDHP) C ontact The Ministry of Education i s currently revi ewing how it will structure its op erati ons to imp l ement th es e changes. Management confirmed that all questions related to the pension plan changes need to be addressed directly to the Ontario Teachers ' Pension Plan (OTPP). Questions and Answers can be found on the OTPP web site. The Workp l ace D i s criminati on and H aras sment Prevention (WDHP ) contact for the Mini stry o f Education is Carol-Ann Marshall, Centre for Health Safety and WetNes s A memo has gone out to managers identifying their new responsibilities, and requiring the po sting o f flae updated policies. Managers are directed to ensure that all staff complete the three online modules. The MyOP S weekly bull etin o f June 1 4, was devoted entirely to the new changes. The MyOP S wellness site contains copies of the revised policies and Questions and Answers. F or staff with WDHP i s sues the first po int o f contact should b e the manager. Emp l oye es who are uncomfo rtab l e do ing so may cho o s e to contact their Human Resource advisor or contact the Centre for Emp l oyee H ealth and S afety directly. OPSEU indicated that it feels that the WDHP training should be mandatory for all staf.
