On Tuesday, December 12, students from art, photography, drama, and band showed their creativity and talents during our annual fundraising event. Drama 8 students performed Auggie Wren s Christmas Story, which the Band 8,9, and 10 students played holiday favorites for the receptive crowd. Scattered throughout the gym among the French café (under the direction of Mme. Daoust), were the photography 8 and 9 students as well as the Studio Arts 11/12 group. Each student stood among their work, answering questions about their techniques and showing off their photography websites. Overall, it was a very successful evening Mr. Plaxton even received a sympathy gingerbread house from a family who actually won two house. I would like to thank all the parents and community members who came out and support us by listening to the play and the band, and also I N N F R O M T H E C O L D through purchasing wine, 50/50 tickets, baking, raffle tickets, and placing small bids on the artwork. Overall, the Fine Arts raised over $ which will help offset the cost of the senior Fine Arts trip, as well as help purchase cameras for the classes. Thanks as well to all the parents who came out to volunteer to help set up and take down, manage the refreshments and cleanup, donate baked goods and/or treats and drinks for the crowd, and served the wine. Also we cannot forget All Occasions Party rentals who helped with the wine glasses, Intrigue Wines who provided the wines for the evening, Michael Breakey who donated the use of his easels, and the Lake Country Art Council who lent us their display grids. This is an opportunity for our teams to raise some money to lower the costs associated with playing basketball and representing our school. In the past our Athletics teams have represented us well across the Province. We have been one of the most successful A schools in the province over the last decade, lots of that in part because of the commitment of our families, players, coaches, and staff. It takes tremendous effort by all to accomplish the successes we have, 10 BC Catholic Championships and 24 Provincial Championships since On behalf of Immaculata and the Athletics programs, we say, Thank you! If you would like to support our girls and boys for this coming year and the future we have a sponsorship opportunity for you or a business you know. Below you will find an example of our Tournament Program and the sponsorship opportunities. Thank you for your continued support in Immaculata and all of its extracurricular programs! The fourth candle is lit on this day along with the first three. It is the Angel's candle, reminding of the heavenly hosts that proclaimed Christ's arrival with "Behold, I bring unto you good tiding of great joy!" The theme of readings and teachings during Advent is often to prepare for the Second Coming while commemorating the First Coming of Christ at Christmas. With the view of directing the thoughts of Christians to the first coming of Jesus Christ as savior and to his second coming as judge, special readings are prescribed for each of the four Sundays in Advent. R O O T E D I N F A I T H Rooted in Faith Prayer Group will be moving to lunch time! What a great way to boost up your mid day. Starting in the new year, join us for 25 minutes on Mondays at Immaculata Regional High School chapel, from 12:10 to 12: 35. Schedule to follow in January. Please note that all meetings will now be held at IRHS. All family members welcome. Looking forward to praying with you.
