1 SPRING 2019 Newly Remodeled Old Shakopee Road Branch Set to Open May 2019 Thanks to the hard work of contractors, RBCU s Old Shakopee Road Branch is near completion and set to open its doors this May. The exterior and drive-thru are finished, and most of the interior walls are up and taking shape. Our windows are in, and looking out towards the beautiful sunshine! We can t wait to open our doors to this neighborhood again and look forward to announcing the opening. Featuring an open concept, solar roof panels, along with other advancements, the newly remodeled branch will certainly be an improvement from the old one. We are always looking for ways to create a better member experience at RBCU. Everyone is excited for the doors to open, said Worthen. Stay tuned for a Grand Re-opening celebration announcement coming soon! Thank you for your patience throughout this project and for your continued support and membership in the Credit Union. RBCU Receives Seven Diamond Awards for Flags for Fort Snelling Project RBCU has been recognized for its leadership with Flags for Fort Snelling in That event raised $350,000, purchased 200,000 U.S. Flags and recruited 8,000 volunteers to help place those flags on all 200,000 headstones at FSNC for Memorial Day last year. This restored the tradition of honoring our fallen heroes for the first time in 35 years. RBCU also thanks its members for donating, volunteering and supporting the cause! It is great to see what RBCU power can do. RBCU and its members were recognized in the following categories at the recent CUNA Diamond Awards Dinner: RBCU was honored to receive the following awards: Excellence Award for Community Outreach Excellence Award for Business Development Excellence Award for Multifaceted Initiative We are always looking for ways to create a better member experience at RBCU. Everyone is excited for the doors to open. - Greg Worthen RBCU President Categories Best for Cutting Edge Categories Best for Diamond in the Rough General Awards for Multifaceted & Ongoing Event The 2019 Flags for Fort Snelling Event will be Sunday, May 26th at 9:00 a.m. Visit flagsforfortsnelling.com for more information. 2 President smessage RBCU Springs Forward in 2019 Being rela vely new to Minnesota, it took me a while to realize there is a whole special vocabulary and mentality for living here during the winter. Before moving here, I cannot say I had heard of Polar Vortex, tank heater, pond hockey, ground blizzards, ice sculptures, pothole season, or creatures called eelpout What I love about the Minnesota spirit is that everyone kind of mumbles under their breath, grits their cha ering teeth and yet embraces everything mother nature throws their way. Greg Worthen Jim Habeck (Chair) Tom Rublein (Vice-Chair) Cori Thompson (Secretary) Teresa Kruse (Treasurer) Jim McDonald Paul Cullen Lynne Scherer Jason Barnes David Kriesel-Koll Richard Schugel (Chair) Joe Meuwissen Robert Pike As we all emerge from this record se ng winter and the spring thaw arrives, I am happy to see the progress being made on the reopening of the Old Shakopee Road (OSR) branch. This is despite numerous weather events that have impacted the construc on schedule. We should have our cer ficate of occupancy soon and begin furnishing the branch. Please look for future announcements of our grand re-opening celebra on. We really appreciate your pa ence as we get OSR back up and running! I would encourage members to a end RBCU s Annual Mee ng on April 22nd at the Hya Regency by Mall of America. It is a great evening of educa on and entertainment. A dinner cket is only $10 and are on sale at RBCU branch loca ons. (Members can also a end the business mee ng for free at 7:30 p.m.) RBCU has added two free seminars prior to the Annual Mee ng for a endees. The first being on Estate Planning. The second being on Elder Abuse. An RBCU Flags for Fort Snelling highlight video will debut at the mee ng. We will also conduct a charity silent auc on again and announce our scholarship winners! The featured speaker is former Minnesota Viking Ben Leber who will inspire RBCU with his Win from Within message about the life changing experience he had as a high school football player in South Dakota. RBCU will be crea ng its own founda on soon with its primary goal being to create a sustainable funding source for high school ac vity programs within our field of membership. RBCU wants kids to have a chance to have the same life changing experience Ben Leber did by par cipa ng in their favorite school ac vi es. Ben will also par cipate in the scholarship award ceremony. Lastly, I would remind members about the Shred Day on Saturday, April 20th at the Lyndale branch (technically VEAP) from 9 a.m. noon. It is a great me to safely dispose of old financial records a er tax season. The event is free, but a non-perishable food or cash dona on to VEAP is suggested. Flags for Fort Snelling is just coming onto the horizon Memorial Weekend. Volunteers will be needed again. Just wanted to thank everyone who donated or volunteered last year. This year s event has been moved to Sunday at 9 a.m. from Saturday, so be sure to mark it on your calendar. Sincerely, Greg Worthen RBCU President
3 RBCUNews&Notes RBCU Now Offers Courtesy Pay What can Courtesy Pay do for You? Occasionally, some of us find ourselves a little short on funds, which can inadvertently result in an overdraft. If something like this happens to you, Courtesy Pay can save you time, money and hassle. Advantages of Courtesy Pay Courtesy Pay allows you to pay bills with confidence. When money gets tight, or you ve made a mistake in your check registry, have an unexpected bill to pay, or simply miscommunicate with another signer on the account, Courtesy Pay will help cover those bills. Limit Inconvenience Courtesy Pay can help prevent an inconvenient situation such as having your debit card declined. RBCU understands that many people need an occasional safety net to avoid this situation - that s why we offer Courtesy Pay. How Courtesy Pay Works Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual overdraft protection service that we offer to our members with eligible Checking accounts. As long as you maintain your account in good standing, we may cover non-sufficient fund items up to your approved limit of $500. We will charge our standard overdraft fee of $30*. You are then required to bring your account to a positive balance for at least one full business day within the next 15 calendar days. It s that simple! Enroll today! To sing up for Courtesy Pay, call to speak with a RBCU Member Service Representative or stop into any RBCU branch location. *A $30 overdraft fee will be assessed per item. A fee may be imposed for covering overdrafts created by debit or ATM transactions. You have 15 business days to pay your negative balance before you will be considered no longer in good standing. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing or you have too many overdrafts. Overdraft transfers and fees are activated based on your available balance, which may be less than your current balance, depending on pending charges, holds and pledges on your account. Additionally, RBCU may change the terms, conditions and fees within the Courtesy Pay service in accordance with established policies. Mortgages Made Easy Whether you re a first-time homeowner, considering a move, or in the market for a vacation property, RBCU has mortgage loan* options to make buying a home simple. Our competitive market rates and member friendly terms are just what you need to make a house your home. RBCU offers: Fixed rate terms of 10, 15, 20 and 30 years Up to 95% LTV financing on owner occupied homes or refinanced mortgage loans** Plus more! *All loans subject to credit approval. **Restrictions apply.
