5 Scholarship Winners We are happy to announce the three winners of the 2018 Youth Scholarship Program: Austin Booth, Kelly Kral, and Jackson Cromer. These students have excelled not only in their studies but also in many extracurricular and leadership activities. These students received $2,000 from Members Heritage to help finance their continuing education. Thank you to all those who participated from our 22 counties! Austin Booth is a graduate of Lafayette High School. He will attend Notre Dame, majoring in Chemical Engineering. Kelly Kral graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. He plans on pursuing a degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. Jackson Cromer is a graduate from Rockcastle County High School. He will attend Northern Kentucky University in the fall with an interest in Industrial Design. Annual Meeting Notes MHCU s Annual Meeting was held on Friday, April 13. There were 143 members in attendance at the meeting. Speakers included the Board Chairman, President and Treasurer. Reports were given by Education Committee Chair, Mike Harding; Nominating Committee Chair, Gary Shireman; and standing in for Supervisory Committee Chair, Karen Tate. Board Chairman Bobby A. Flynn recognized the following for their years of service: 5 years Mark Mefford 10 years Brittany Lippert 15 years Mike Harding 45 years Les Burton Chairman Flynn recognized Mike Harding for 15 years of service and presented him with a pin. Les Burton was then recognized by Chairman Flynn for 45 years of service and was presented with a pin and plaque. It was reported by President Pat Ferry that 2017 was another extremely busy and challenging year. New services and enhancements added in 2017 included implementation of a new online membership application platform, robust fraud detection program for online accounts, mobile/digital wallet services. We also switched debit card processors and added cellphone mobility to our debit cards with the app called MobiMoney. Our security was upgraded on debit and credit cards with a more robust Risk Manager program called Visa Risk Management. We achieved the biggest accomplishments in our information systems area. We had major upgrades and changes too numerous to mention. Your Board of Directors and staff recognize that cybersecurity and fraud are areas of concern for everyone. These were a large part of our initiatives. On the horizon we are reestablishing our Insurance Agency starting in July. We will be partnering with a third party and opening our own insurance agency to offer the membership insurance products online and by telephone. We are working on a new online banking system for 2019 with a payment platform to allow person-to-person and account-to-account transfers in real time. We are in the process of doing our due diligence on offering HSAs to our membership. And this spring, we will be replacing our entire line of branch ATMs. These machines will increase efficiency, uptime and security. President Pat Ferry concluded with, 2017 was a good year. Thank you for your support and usage of the Credit Union. I want to assure you that your credit union is Safe, Sound and Secure! We are excited about 2018! There were two vacancies on the board to be filled. The Nominating Committee nominated Bobby A. Flynn and Les Burton to fill the vacancies. With no other nominees being submitted, a three-year appointment to the Board of Directors was declared for Bobby A. Flynn and Les Burton by acclamation. The meeting was closed with door prize drawings courtesy of Members Heritage and area vendors/business partners who donated items.
