1 Winter 2016 MEMBERS EARN BONUS DIVIDEND FOR 12TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR BOARD DECLARES $1.2 MILLION YEAR-END BONUS DIVIDEND Goldenwest Credit Union is proud to announce a year-end bonus dividend of $1.2 million will be paid to members on December 31, The Board of Directors approved the one-time bonus dividend payout at the monthly board meeting held on November 18, This is the largest bonus dividend paid in Goldenwest history, and the 12th consecutive year the credit union has paid a bonus dividend to members. Over the course of 12 years, Goldenwest has returned $7,975,000 to our members with the bonus dividend program. We are both proud and grateful Goldenwest has experienced another strong year, stated Bill Hart, Chairman of the Board of Directors. When the credit union does well, we make it a point to give more to our members at the end of the year. It s our way of saying thank you for your loyalty. The one-time dividend of 4.10% APY is paid on primary shares, secondary shares, Christmas Club shares, and IRA shares. Based on the average daily balance of shares during 2015, the bonus dividend is paid for the month of December only. The dollars and cents earned on the bonus dividend equate to a little less than the annual yield paid on a 12-month CD. The one-time dividend is paid in addition to the monthly dividend, which the Board declared as 0.10% APY. The total dividend paid for the month of December will be 4.20% APY. The not-for-profit financial cooperative model is alive and well at Goldenwest Credit Union, commented Kerry Wahlen, President/ CEO. 2 MOBILE WALLET UPDATE Apple Pay Apple Pay is available to use with all USU Credit Union VISA Credit and Debit Cards for the following Apple devices: iphone 6, iphone 6 Plus, iphone 6s, iphone 6s Plus, Apple Watch and the latest ipad. Android Pay Android Pay is available to use with all USU Credit Union Visa Credit Cards for devices with the Android Operating System 4.4 or higher. Android Pay is currently accepted at more than one million merchant locations in the U.S. Samsung Pay Samsung Pay is available to use with all USU Credit Union Visa Credit Cards on the latest Samsung Galaxy devices, but will not be available to members with Verizon as their cellular carrier. To obtain the Samsung Pay app on your phone, download the latest operating system update. Samsung Pay is accepted by more merchants than any other mobile payment service. Samsung Pay works two ways one using the Near Field Communication (NFC) card readers which is similar to Apple Pay and Android Pay. The other way uses LoopPay technology to allow the phone to work with card readers that do not have NFC technology. Samsung Pay is able to determine which avenue to take based on the card reader at the merchant. All transactions involve a token and do not transmit card data. SHOW YOUR AGGIE PRIDE! 3 VOLUNTEER BOARD POSITIONS AND ELECTION 2016 Three credit union members will be elected to the Goldenwest Board of Directors next spring. These positions are for three-year terms beginning April These seats are currently held by Stoney Wayment, Dan Musgrave, and Steve Carroll, who will run as incumbents. If you are interested in becoming a Board nominee you must meet the following criteria: Goldenwest or USU Credit Union member in good standing Legal age (18 years or older) Bondable by the CUMIS Insurance Society Free from any conflicts of interest with the credit union Available for all Board of Director meetings and other designated meetings (unless excused) There are two ways that a member may submit his or her name for nomination: 1) Members wishing to run for a Director position must submit the following information: Full name and address; Home and business telephone numbers; Goldenwest or USU Credit Union account number; A written statement of qualification, which should be limited to a maximum of 150 words. Should only one person be nominated for each position that needs to be filled, an election will not be conducted by ballot. Nominations from the floor will not be accepted at the Annual Meeting. All Members Invited to Attend the Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., April 12, 2016 at the Goldenwest Corporate Center located at 5025 South Adams Avenue in South Ogden. The election results will be announced at this meeting. The Board of Directors represents the views and interests of the entire membership, and exercises general control of the credit union s activities. Like all credit union volunteer officials, the Directors receive no compensation for their service. NEW CACHE VALLEY BRANCH OPENS INSIDE LEE S MARKETPLACE 27TH BRANCH LOCATION ACROSS THE GOLDENWEST CREDIT UNION NETWORK USU Credit Union, a division of Goldenwest, marked the official opening of a fifth branch in Cache Valley with a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 17, The new branch is located inside Lee s Marketplace at 555 East 1400 North in Logan. Lee s Marketplace and USU Credit Union hold many of the same values when it comes to providing a family friendly, communityoriented environment for business, said David Butterfield, USU Credit Union Division President. Opening a branch inside Lee s Marketplace is a great opportunity to team-up with a locally owned retailer and provide our growing membership another convenient credit union location. The new branch provides members will a full-range of services such as consumer loans, mortgages, free checking and Visa cards including The Aggie Visa Credit Card and The Aggie Debit Card. Katie Liehe, the former assistant manager at USU Credit Union s Campus Branch, has been promoted to the position of manager. Liehe will supervise all operations and business development at the Lee s Marketplace location. The new office, known as the North Logan branch, marks the 27th full-service operating branch across the Goldenwest branch network. The credit union has plans to open two additional branches in 2016, including the USU Welcome Center Campus Branch and the West Jordan branch.
