ANNUAL MEETING News Thanks to all who attended the Annual Meeting in February. Your attendance and participation is appreciated! The meeting was adjourned since a quorum was not represented at the meeting. However, the Board of Directors reviewed the state of the association, accomplishments and 2010 goals. The slideshow presentation can be found on the website (www. vistaoaks.org). VISTA OAKS OWNERS ASSOCIATION Board Meeting Minutes, January 28, 2010 The VOOA board meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM by President, Douglas Mink. A quorum was confirmed; Suman Khisty, Walter Sotillo, Angela Beecham and Deirdre Goggins were also present. Denise Gehrmann-Jimenez from Southwest Management was also present and Denise took the minutes. Suman made motion to approve the minutes from the November 19, 2009 BOD meeting. Walter seconded the motion. All approved. Committee Reports The board reviewed the Security Report and would like to include a marked vehicle in the contract. Denise will discuss with Southwest Water Company for new contract. The board reviewed the Lifeguard Report submitted by the committee. They met with both vendors; committee has a suggestion to add to the contract sign-up days for swim lessons. Deirdre made a motion to hire D K & G for lifeguards during the 2010 swim season. Walter seconded. All approved. The board reviewed a proposal to remove the vines on the brick wall along Deirdre made a motion to approve the proposal. Suman seconded the motion. All approved. The Social Committee is scheduled to have the Easter Egg Hunt on April 3, Management Report The board reviewed the list of current delinquent accounts. New Business The board is concerned with the number of pages in the newsletter. Is there some way to find out how many pages we will receive prior to publishing? Denise will follow up with Peel Inc. Denise and Doug will prepare the Annual Meeting presentation. The presentation will include financial status, accomplishments and goals. The board reviewed a proposal to install a xeriscaped bed at the mailbox kiosk on Vista Hills Drive. Angela made a motion to approve the proposal as submitted. Walter seconded the motion. 3 Parkside & Wiley Students Make their Mark at Destination Imagination Capital Region Competition: At the recent Destination Imagination Capital Region Competition the Parkside Teams and the Wiley teams placed very well in their respective categories. Parkside Team 1, which has three residents; Jacob Mickelson, William Mickelson and Eralp Orkun, won 1st place and is advancing to the State Competition in Carrollton, TX in April. Parkside Team 2, which has four residents; Dylan Rowling, Alexia Rowling, Emma Stein and Julia Stein won 3rd place and the Wiley Team 2, which has four residents; Brandon Walker, Alper Orkun, Ryan Mickelson and Victoria Lynn, took 2nd place. Residents Among the 2010 Short Course South Texas Swimming Champs Congratulations to our very own Amanda Alspaugh and Mackenzie Alspaugh who competed in the 2010 Short course South Texas Age Group Champs and Senior Champs this past weekend in San Antonio, both with around 500 participants at each meet! Our 13 & Over swimmers who competed at Senior Champs finished with a 57% best time percentage, and an incredible 62% of their races qualified them for finals!! Amanda Alspaugh won the Silver Medal for the 200 Fly (2:16:26Y), 100 fly (1:03:15Y), and the Bronze Medal for the 500 Freestyle (5:28:08Y). Mackenzie Alspaugh won fifth place in the 100 Freestyle (55;56Y). Our fastest swimmers in the region, Mackenzie Alspaugh, Carder LaBrake, Ben Wiese, and Megan Ziemann, will be competing at the 2010 Short course Southern Zone Sectional Championships held at College Station March 4-7th. 7 Districts Regionals STATE Summer is just around the corner! for Swimmers months and months of training, miles and miles of swimming Be sure to check the website and May newsletter for important pool news and swim lesson registration dates!! residents Mackenzie Alspaugh and Makenna Hall, along with teammates Tamsin Wardell and Jyna Leckbee claimed the title of District 26-4A Champions in the Girls 200yd Freestyle Relay. A top 6 finish at districts is needed to advance to the Regional meet. Both swimmers advanced to regionals in their individual events! The regional meet was held in San Antonio Feb where Makenna finished 13th in the 100yd butterfly, and 17th in the 100yd breaststroke. Mackenzie finished 4th in the 100yd butterfly and 2nd in the 200yd freestyle. The personal best time of 1:58.34 in the freestyle race was enough to advance her to State! Mackenzie represented Rouse High School at the State 4A Championship meet held at the University of Texas Swim Center Feb She was cheered on my family, friends, neighbors, teammates, RHS staff and also the school s namesake, Mr. Charles Rouse. Another personal best time of 1:57.67 at prelims qualified her to swim finals on Saturday. She placed 7th overall in the 200 yd freestyle. The RHS swim team is lead by Coach Marlene Chavez a former swimmer for Cedar Park High School. Coach Chavez took 12 swimmers to Districts, 8 swimmers to Regionals, and 1 to State. The swim team is always looking for dedicated swimmers to join the team. Is There a Lightpole Out on Your Street? The street light poles in are owned and maintained by the MUD.
