1 Edmunds Central School District #22-5 Regular Board of Education Minutes March 14, 2016 The regular meeting of the Edmunds Central School District #22-5 Board of Education was called to order by Chairman Fischer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016 in the library with the following members present: Chairman Fischer, Beyers, Hauck, Haerter, Secker (in attendance at 6:50pm). Guests Present: Superintendent Yates, Business Manager Hinz, Cindy Heinz, Larry Heinz, Dawn Geist, Bethany Ulmer, Mary Austad, Michelle Humann, Sherrie Forkel, David Hettick, Tracy Treichel, Sandi Jung, Cathy Imbery, Ron Imbery, Angie Preszler, Chad Richardt, Karri Malsam, Sure Wiedrich, Jennifer Heyne, Britney Linn, Amy Heinz, Wendy Hoerner and Kevin Hoerner. Students Present: Kristi Schurr and Jenna Wiedrich. Chairman Fischer welcomed guests. Motion by Beyers, seconded by Hauck to approve the agenda. Motion carried. The public was invited to address the board during public comment. Public speakers included: Cindy Heinz, Larry Heinz, Sue Wiedrich and Dawn Geist regarding the Art program. SD Retirement Representative, Michelle Humann, presented about retirement regulations, benefits, and rights through the SDRS. Oahe Special Education Coop, Mary Austad, presented regarding the school year special education contract. She hopes for an on-site certified special education teacher for Edmunds Central with paraprofessionals on-site to assist. Oahe s comprehensive plan was briefly discussed, as well as the cost of their services. Motion by Beyers, seconded by Haerter to adopt the proposed school calendar with a start date of August 22, Motion carried. Motion by Beyers, seconded by Haerter to contract with the Oahe Special Education Coop for the school term for special education services, speech services, pre-school, psychological, PT counselor, and the administrative fees associates to those services. Motion carried. Motion by Hauck, seconded by Beyers with motion carrying unanimously to approve the Consent Agenda including: a) Approval and/or correction of February 8, 2016 Meeting Minutes: SD Retirement bill posted as $ to the correct amount of $ b) Approval of February Financial Statements

5 Board Member Haerter presented the Oahe Special Education Coop Report. Superintendent Yates presented his report. Track practice began March 11. The spring play will take place on April 1 and 2 at 7pm. The building project has begun with mobilizing on March 14 and the fencing is set to begin March 15. Teacher evaluations are in progress. Smarter Balanced Testing proctor training is set. There is an interest for an Industrial Arts program and an option of a Sharing Employee Grant that will be looked into. We will get more information regarding the Legislative update at the Area Superintendents meeting March 16. Plans are to go with the policy adoption through the ASBSD. Motion by Haerter, seconded by Beyers to offer a contract to Chad Richardt as Assistant Track Coach for 2016 season, David Hettick as Head Golf Coach for 2016 season, and Shauna Hinz as Head Volleyball Coach for the 2016 season. A surplus sale date is set to be on or around April 30, The local sheriff will be asked to auction the items. A list of sale items will be approved at the April 11 Meeting. time. Snow blower prices were given to the Board from John Deere. No motions were made at this A Collective Bargaining/Negotiations date was discussed, but not set to be in April. Board of Education negotiators will be Robert Fischer and Morina Hauck. Motion by Secker, seconded by Hauck with motion carrying unanimously to go into executive session according to SDCL (1) to discuss personnel matter and SDCL (4) to discuss negotiations at 7:40 pm. Chairman Fischer declared executive session over at 10:37 pm. pm.
