1 NAEYC for Site Visit Assessment To NAEYC Early Learning Program and Assessment Items released January 2018 Instructions: Programs submitting Candidacy or Renewal Materials after March 15, 2018 must use the NAEYC Early Learning Program released January 2018 to prepare their portfolios and observations for the NAEYC Accreditation Site Visit Assessment process. If your program has already developed evidence based on the NAEYC for Site Visit Assessment, please use the chart below to update your portfolio labels and observable evidence. If a change is noted, please refer to the Accreditation Assessment Tools for the changes to ensure your evidence meets the updated assessment items. Types of Changes (N) Numbering: ALL assessment item numbers have been changed (C) Category: All emerging assessment items are now always assessed items and some required items have been reclassified (L) Language: Changes have been made to the wording of items, or to guidance and/or definitions to support the item NEW: New Assessment Items have been added that do not have a corresponding NAEYC for Site Visit Assessment Tasks for Programs (N) Numbering: Where a change in item number is identified, programs will need to replace the previous label for assessment item number with an updated label. For example, in the classroom portfolio Assessment Item 01C-54 will now be labeled as 1C.6. Program will note that the new labels no longer include the item language, so programs will need to refer to the Accreditation Assessment Tools and Labels for specific item language. (C) Category: Where a change in category has been made, programs will need to check the portfolio tools to see the type of change. All emerging practice items will now be always assessed items and programs should prepare evidence for these items; they will no longer be bonus items for programs and will be counted in the 80% pass rate for each standard, therefore should have evidence prepared. Additionally, some required items have been reclassified, so programs should refer to the portfolio tools to find required items marked in red. (L) Language: Where changes have been made to the language of the items, it is strongly recommended programs refer to the NAEYC Standards document to review the best practices for the standards, topic area, and the language of the assessment item to confirm their evidence is still meeting the full intent of the item. NEW: Where there is a new item indicated, programs will need to prepare new evidence for an item that was not previously included in the assessment of the program. If programs should have any further questions or concerns please contact NAEYC Accreditation of Early Learning Programs at or at accreditation.information@naeyc.org.
