Dear LEA Member, It is my distinct honor and privilege, on behalf of the Board of Directors, to announce Mr. Maurice (Hank) Greenberg as the Keynote Speaker at The LEA s 85 th Anniversary Conference being held in Tampa, FL January 27 29, Mr. Greenberg s accomplishments and position in the insurance industry make him an ideal speaker for our historic conference and we are very pleased that he has agreed to address our organization during our 85 th Anniversary meeting. Following Mr. Greenberg s presentation, our featured speaker will be Mr. Charles Gasparino, Senior Correspondent at Fox Business News. Mr. Gasparino is a well known political and business commentator and we are fortunate he has accepted our invitation to speak at the conference. Continuing the lineup of top notch talent at the conference, we have planned a gala dinner celebration on Thursday night which will be headlined by Joe Piscopo, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live but who also presents an eclectic evening of nightclub style entertainment. In consideration of the gala dinner celebration, the board requests that associate member firms avoid scheduling any private events for Thursday evening. As an accommodation, we have scheduled the opening reception on Wednesday January 27 th for the hours of 5:30 to 7:00 to allow more time for associate member networking events. We believe the educational sessions continue the LEA s long established tradition of quality presentations on topical claim issues which the membership will find valuable. Since feedback from our revised format has been favorable, we will continue with providing a choice of (3) two hour workshops and a choice of (2) one hour sessions. Please refer to the registration packet for further details. The quality of the presenters that have been assembled will make for a fitting and unforgettable acknowledgment for our proud history and I am excited to extent this invitation to attend. 7 Speakers David Cooper, Director Cooper Brothers SRL Marcelo Fazio, Managing Director of Latin American Operations MDD Forensic Accountants Oliver Newick, Executive General Adjuster Liberty International Underwriters Alan Purbrick, CEO Capital Consulting International Workshop 3 (2 Hours) Market Share Losses: Conflicts and Controversies Many commercial property losses today concern a market of insurers with varying views on coverage and subrogation. This tension is further exposed when members of the insurance market are using different policy forms and also have differing philosophies relative to the pursuit of subrogation. Additional problems arise when some members of the insurance market are using an independent adjuster, while others use their own company adjuster. This program explores the sometimes divergent views of market members who must coordinate their response to a complex commercial loss. This program also highlights the tension between coverage and subrogation during the claims handling process. The panelists include an independent adjuster, a company adjuster, a London claims professional, a subrogation specialist, and the attorneys who assist them. Through the use of a hypothetical loss, our panelists will explain their views on this subject. It is the overall goal of the program to provide guidance to claims professionals on the best practices for resolving the conflicts and controversies that arise from market-share losses that involve both complex coverage questions and potential subrogation recoveries.
