1 Pioneer Connection- October 2017 UPCOMING EVENTS OCTOBER 13 th is Lee Jacobs Day! The Pioneer Club will honor Mr. Lee by hosting an Employee & Retirees Telecom Reunion on Friday, October 13 th at Centurylink s General Office Building (555 Lake Border Drive, Apopka, FL). The event will begin at 11:00 A.M. EDT. Please save the date and let s attend in great numbers as we plant a tree and display a plaque on Centurylink s property in honor of the late Lee Jacobs. The Florida Chapter annual meeting will be held on October 14 th at the Café Murano, 309 Cranes Roost Boulevard, Altamonte Springs, FL. A reception will be at 6:00 P.M. followed by dinner and business meeting. Live music will begin at 8:45 P.M. Dress is luau casual wear. RSVP by Wednesday, October 11 to Carolyn Kelly at cdkhsd@earthlink.net. The Buckeye State Chapter Convention will be held on October 20 th and 21 st at the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Orville, Ohio, which is close to Amish country. Main events are on Saturday but for those arriving on Friday, dinner is on your own. There will be cheese tasting at the hotel at 7:00 P.M. Breakfast is included for those staying at the hotel. The business meeting will be held in the meeting room at the hotel and begins at 9:00 A.M., followed by lunch on your own and free time in the afternoon. We all meet up late afternoon to head to Dravenstott s Restaurant which is just down the street. Dinner is at 6:00 P.M. and our scholarship will be awarded following the dinner. The Carotel Club annual meeting and golf tournament will be held on October 27 th and 28 th at The Inn at Pine Knoll Shores in Atlantic Beach, NC. Personal

2 registration will begin at Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. followed by a picnic and dance. The golf tournament will be Saturday, October 28. If you want to play, the cost is $40 per person. Late registrations are accepted. The Otto Wettstein Jr. Pioneer Club in Leesburg Florida will be celebrating the 40 th Anniversary of the Annual Retiree Christmas Luncheon at the Community Building in Leesburg on December 12 th beginning at 11:00 A.M. Retired club members, other retirees, their spouses and guests are invited to the annual event. Invitations will be ed and mailed the latter part of October and early November. Mark your calendars and come celebrate with us. If you haven t received an invitation by November 13 th, please contact Jo Ann Esposito at espogirl56@yahoo.com. RSVP s are due back by November 27 th. The traditional buffet lunch will be served along with some other special surprises. The attendees of the luncheon will be asked to bring a non-perishable food item with them. Last year, we collected a total of 501 pounds. Let s try for another record breaking amount!
