From: Community Planning and Development Department Date: June 21, 2016 Sungod Skylight Replacement and Steel Column Repair Contract Award The following report has been reviewed and endorsed by the Chief Administrative Officer. RECOMMENDATIONS: A. THAT a contract for skylight replacement at Sungod Recreation Centre be awarded to Spectrum Skyworks (2008) Partnership in the amount of $171,666.60, including GST. B. THAT the Director of Finance and the Director of Community Planning and Development be authorized to execute a contract for skylight replacement at Sungod Recreation Centre. PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to obtain Council approval to award a contract for skylight replacement at the Sungod Recreation Centre. BACKGROUND: The existing sloped aluminum framed skylight assembly and supporting knee wall which spans the pool and main lobby areas of the Sungod Recreation Centre have reached the end of their service life and require replacement. In addition, a series of structural steel columns and surrounding architectural concrete pedestals within the pool area require repairs to eliminate surface corrosion. Invitation to Tender Skylight Replacement and Steel Column Repairs was posted on BC Bid, which sought pricing from qualified general contractors to undertake both aspects of work, with the option for bidders to submit a price for either the skylight or steel column works.

DISCUSSION: At the date and time of the Invitation to Tender closing, one bid was received for the skylight replacement aspect of work, as noted below: Proponent Spectrum Skyworks (2008) Partnership Stipulated Fee (including GST) $171, The submission from Spectrum Skyworks (2008) Partnership fully satisfies the requirements of the Invitation to Tender. Considering that no bid submissions were received for the steel column repair works outlined in the Invitation to Tender, staff will continue to seek out and negotiate with qualified contractors to undertake and complete this work during the planned annual facility maintenance shutdown. Implications: Financial Implications - The Council approved skylight replacement work at Sungod Recreation Centre is included in the 2016 Capital Plan. The project costs are provided below. Given the approved project budget of, a $75,000 funding shortfall exists. As such it is recommended that available funds within the 2016 Civic Buildings Program (Attachment B) - Carryover budget be used to address the funding shortfall.

However, corrective actions will need to be undertaken when the facility is non operational for an extended period of time.
