2 Purpose, Benefits, and Key Process Steps Purpose The purpose of this scenario is to describe or support testing of a complete account life cycle with SEP direct debit functionality, from the creation of the mandate to the execution of the payment order in Payment Engine. 5 Detailed Process Description SP Payment Engine for SEP Direct Debit The SEP Direct Debit (SDD) Process scheme starts with the creation of a mandate that basically is a signed agreement between debtor and creditor where the debtor authorizes to be direct debited in its bank account due to a payment. fterwards, the creditor must transfer the required data to its bank to initialize the direct debit process and also must inform the debtor that this process is ongoing. With the initialization of the direct debit process triggered with the Creditor s Bank a series of clearing messages between the Creditor s and the Debtor s Bank with ISO20022-XML- Format is created. Finally, as a result of the mentioned messages between the banks the Direct Debit is executed at the bank of the Debtor SP SE or an SP affiliate company. ll rights reserved. 5
