On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association, it is my distinct pleasure to invite you to MPELRA s 47th Annual Training Conference at the Cedar River Village at Shanty Creek Resort on September 14 16, This year's conference is designed to address the hottest topics that are of particular interest to both beginners and experts in the field of Labor Relations, Human Resources, and those who specialize in employment and labor law. If proper procedures are adhered to, there should be no reason for such concern. This workshop will focus on the practical process for disciplining employees. Gallagher & Co. This session will focus on the evolution of the employer sponsored retirement plan. As the number of employees covered by defined benefit pension plans continues to decrease, defined contribution plans (e.g. 457 plans) take on a critical role in helping employees prepare for retirement. Meanwhile, the Department of Labor s final regulation released on April 8, 2016 substantially redefined fiduciary duty under ERISA. While public employers in Michigan are not subject to ERISA, come see how following fiduciary and industry best practices can benefit the governance of your defined contribution plan. SHRM and HRCI Recertification Credits MPELRA has been approved as a SHRM Preferred Provider and recognized by SHRM to offer professional development credits for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP ) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP ). In addition, all program sessions have been submitted for approval for recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Notice will be posted on the MPELRA website when the HRCI credits have been approved. To pre-register for SHRM and/or HRCI recertification credit hours for the 2016 MPELRA Annual Conference, please check the appropriate boxes on your conference registration form. We will play on The Legend, which is considered to be one of Arnold Palmer's finest courses. We will have individual tee times and will use a scramble format. Each foursome must use a minimum of two (2) drives from each player, so choose wisely! Reserve Early! The cost of the Golf Outing is $50 and includes green fees and cart.
