2 PERSONAL LINES GENERAL INFO Target Markets: CPIC is currently split about 70% PL vs 30% CL. Target markets for HO include those risks with average to above average housekeeping, 2 reported claims or less and/or less than $5,000 paid in 5 years, and Coverage A between $100,000 and $650,000 RC or ACV. Some additional helpful information is shown here. Insurance Scoring: Chautauqua Patrons Insurance does NOT currently use insurance scoring Prohibited Dogs: Akita, Doberman, Pit Bull, Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, or any other dog with a history of biting or aggressive behavior, and any mixed breeds of those listed. Trampolines: Are acceptable in all programs, however, we attach trampoline exclusion ML 52A (12/98) to all policies which excludes all liability and medical payments. (No signatures are required mandatory form). Inflation Guard: Currently set at 4% per year for both RC and ACV risks. Interior Wood Stoves & Wood Furnaces: We define a woodstove or wood furnace as a unit used to provide heat to a structure. They generally have a cast iron, steel, porcelain, or soapstone exterior. Generally loaded with multiple logs and usually has a door with a latch to keep the heat contained within the firebox. Only Standard HO and Standard Seasonal HO are eligible. 10% surcharge. CPIC will inspect all devices for proper installation. Supplemental Heating: Outdoor Wood Stoves, Fireplaces, Fireplace Inserts, Pellet, Corn and Coal Stoves. Eligible for all programs. No additional charge. Swimming Pools: Diving Boards and Slides are generally not a problem if professionally installed. ID Theft 911 Coverage: Available on all P/L policies includes $10,000 identity fraud for $10. Home/Auto Discount: 6% Discount if CPIC writes the HO policy and the agency controls the auto! Mechanical & Electrical Breakdown: ML 346A $10,000 in coverage. Available on all P/L policies for $15 per policy. Underground Utility Coverage: ML 342 $10,000 in coverage. Available on all P/L polices for $15 per policy. New Construction: Written as HO policies, as we do not offer a builders risk program at this time. Large discounts available for homes newer than 30 years of age. Other Structures: Generally include the following: 1. Be (2) stories or less in height 2. Be less than 2,000 square feet 3. Roof new or updated within the past 20 years 4. For Replacement Cost to Apply: a. Circuit Breakers if there is electric to the structure b. If no electric, risk will qualify 5. Using the Comparable Value Homeowners Endorsement (ML 16) 4/95 edition, losses will be settled on a repair cost basis. (i.e., the damaged property is repaired using generally accepted repair practices and materials, in current usage). This option is available for use when the Coverage A limit is not lower than 30% of RC. $50,000 Minimum Coverage A Amount Can be written with coverage form ML 1, ML 2, or ML 3 4

5 City and Suburban Rates Available $500 Minimum Deductible In order to qualify, homes must also meet minimum renovation requirements. They are as follows: Heating Renovated in the past 40 years. Must have central heat. Electric Renovated within the past 40 years. Must have circuit breakers with a minimum 100 amp service. Roof Must have been replaced within 20 years or no missing, damage, or curling shingles. Tile, Slate, and Metal roofs are exempt from the above requirements, but must show signs of proper maintenance and upkeep. Exterior Must be well maintained with no chipped or peeling paint. No asphalt / asbestos siding. MOBILE HOMEOWNER INLAND MARINE Doublewides on continuous permanent foundation qualify for HO policies No mobile homes with wood burning devices Will consider up to 20 years of age. If older, submit photos for consideration for Standard Fire 1) Can be written monoline (with 20% surcharge) with u/w approval 2) Eligible classes include boats, fine arts, livestock, etc. 3) Jewelry cannot be written monoline 4) Appraisals required if value exceeds $ 5,000 LANDLORD UNDERWRITTEN IN COMMERCIAL LINES ***All Landlord Policies must be equipped with Circuit Breakers*** FL 1, 2, or 3 is available RC or ACV Valuation No Absentee Landlords. Cost is $1.60/ $1,000 Credits are available in this program CPIC Farmowner application found in the agent info area of website PREMIER FARMOWNER 1) ML 5(6/91) Comprehensive Form Coverage for Primary Farm House 2) 10% credit for Dairy of distinction or above average risk 3) CPIC Farmowner application found in the agent info area of website HOBBY FARM Designed for insureds with limited farm animals and/or operations Primary source of income cannot be farming 100 Acres or less Income from farming must be less than $20,000 No Farm employees Generates a 15% credit from standard farm rates and 22% off of Premier FO 6

7 COMMERCIAL LINES The commercial lines section of this document is meant to be a quick reference for you to use when searching for coverage for your clients. It is not a manual, but rather a document with some helpful hints, and some common scenarios that we see. Please don t hesitate to contact your C/L underwriter for further assistance with proper product selection, pricing, and application of policy credits. As we know, commercial lines is very unique and each risk is underwritten individually. The staff at CPIC is ready and willing to assist you as needed.
