RCM 2 In Attendance Over the Weekend: Courtney J- RCM 2 Renee O- H & I Chair Fellowship Development/ Area Support Group Highlights: Cultural Diversity in the fellowship: There will be a digital survey available on naflorida.org, once we have the link we can it to all GSR s in our area. There is also a possibility that there will be a workshop on this topic at the Florida Service Symposium. PR did a presentation which covered many topics including ways to get our literature racks into ER s and college campuses. Professionalism, maintaining the integrity of NA, appropriate attire, materials and preparedness when giving presentations to the community. Projects to become Workgroups: SEZF BMLT merge Retrieve lost information Summary/ Update re: Current Workgroups: Mentorship Website Corrections Guide housekeeping (closing this RSC) HRP guidelines RD Info: Christie Beth F Biff K FRCNA: It was brought to our attention that members of the Region were not aware that they could come and speak to the FRC BOD during Open Forum which we have at every meeting. During our Open Forum the GOA RCM, Dennisse came and spoke to the Proposal to discuss the feasibility of renting, and potentially purchasing in the future, translation equipment to be used by NA members whose primary RSC Minutes November 18, 2018 language is not English. FRCNA has in the past attempted to provide Spanish workshops in addition to having translation via headsets used on a mobile phone with little to no participation. We are willing to try again. However, in order to determine the feasibility and sustainability we will need to collect data that can only be acquired by test piloting the use of the equipment. The outcome of our discussion is that an ad-hoc committee for Programming was formed, 8
9 which Dennisse will be leading. She will be responsible to report to the Programming chair who will bring the information to the BOD. She has been tasked with bringing 3 quotes for the equipment necessary to do a pilot test for FRCNA 38 as well as to memorialize all information, create a Best Practice Guideline, and timeline. More will be revealed as the information becomes available. The single page Registration form was translated into Spanish with a section that asks if translation equipment is needed as well as if they are willing to help with providing translation services.new Proposals: No motions this month. 10 Subcommittee Reports Activities November Activities Nov 10 Saturday Kickball Jennifer and I showed up before 10:00am at Westside park s Baseball diamond. She had her son with her, so he played on the diamond while we waited until 10:45 and nobody showed up. November 22 Thursday Thanksgiving day was a success! There were people there with no other place to go to celebrate and keep from being lonely and they thanked us for making the 12 hour room available. There were meetings every other hour and video and board games to play. Many thanks to everyone who attended, Jim & Colin who made breakfast for everyone who was there, those who brought lots of delicious food dishes, those people who donated to Activities, those who helped set up and take down the decorations, and the gentlemen from VOA who took all the leftovers to the Veterans in their community. What a wonderful family to belong to! Looking forward to the 25 hour room. In loving service, Patty B. 12 Alt Literature No Report Hospitals & Institutions Hello Family, H&I met on 11/25/18 and there were 14 people in attendance. We have 2 new people that have been orientated- Daniel L. (From out of state) and Morgan S. We continue to keep discussion open about VOA. Since they are able to get out to meetings and do not seem interested in having meetings at this time, it is most likely that this will be our last month there. We have had a long run with Keith D., Kris W., and currently Tim D carrying a strong NA message, but it s imperative we put our resources where they are not only needed, but wanted. We will finalize a decision at the end of this month. At other meetings, there have been personal conflicts of interest so a couple panel leaders are switching positions for the month of December. Everyone s honesty and maturity in this matter have been much appreciated. Kevin C. has been voted in to chair Meta, as Guy steps down to fulfill personal commitments. I attended the RSC last month, and it was good to be back and also representing the Uncoast H&I Subcommittee. I didn t bring any specific problems to the floor, but was able to share a little of our areas experience with others as needed. I also connected with Joey, our Regional H&I Coordinator. They came into a surplus of Basic Texts, and I have asked for the Uncoast to be considered when divvying them up, as we could use the assistance. I m not sure how many, but I believe they are en route! So VERY COOL of the region- it reminds me that the service structure is set up for the RSC to serve the Areas and is operating as so. Proud to say that no one has carried a meeting into a facility by themself this month- as tempting as it is when not enough members show up! We have had one relatively small issue within the committee- of panel leaders not present at the monthly subcommittee meetings. We looked over the policy and realized somehow it hadn t been addressed in writing. We changed it, and would like to submit it for approval and to be posted on the website. We are simply adding a bullet point under Ground For Removal stating that: *Two consecutive missed monthly subcommittee meetings constitutes grounds for removal from your position in the subcommittee. I would ask the body if there is no opposition that we waive the need to send it back to groups, as this is more of a housekeeping issue. Of course I am open to group conscience. ILS, Renee O.
