The 13 th Annual Conference, held at Kuala Lumpur was widely attended with 313 delegates. This year s conference is planned at the Bandarnaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo, Sri Lanka, ( with stay arrangements (as per availability) being made for our delegates at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, ( Mr. H.R. Khan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India has kindly consented to inaugurate the conference at Colombo. Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor Central Bank of Sri Lanka has also consented to be the Chief Guest and deliver the Keynote address. We expect about 250 delegates from India, and neighbouring countries, being Treasury Heads from Banks and Insurance Cos. in India, and other Asian Financial Markets. As you are aware, has brought with it many challenges to the Emerging Markets and especially the Indian Sub Continent. With the slow-down in USA and the Eurozone, affecting the global growth, India is faced with the twin challenge of keeping inflation under control as well as preventing the growth from sliding downwards. Investments are desperately required in Infrastructure and Corporates need to be able to raise long term funds which banks are unable to provide. While new hedging instruments have been introduced for hedging interest rate risks (Interest Rate Futures) and Credit Risk in Bond investments (Credit Default Swaps), the FIMMDA members need to pull together to activate these products. Against the above back-drop, the Deputy Governor, Mr. H.R. Khan has desired that the members should delegate at least one Senior Treasury Official, to the conference, so that meaningful discussions are held on the topics selected. The FIMMDA PDAI Conference will also provide an opportunity for the market professionals from the Indian Fixed Income and Derivatives markets to discuss and interact with each other, distinguished speakers and panelists and gain insights into the emerging global regulations, risk management, and trading best practices. It also provides an opportunity for the delegates to network with other market participants from India and abroad, and widen their understanding and knowledge base in their specialized fields.
