8 ASF in Czech Republic First occurrence of ASF - in two wild boar (found dead) on 21 and 22 June 2017 ASF positive decomposed carcass (bones) was found 19 April 2018 Since then - no more cases in wild boar.

11 Regionalization in the EU context Regionalization (zooning) in line with OIE standards = integral element EU strategy aimed at: ensuring the best possible disease control minimize the negative impact of disease outbreaks on the EU single market (intra-eu trade) and on exports (without lowering the level of safety of the commodities that are traded/exported (SPS agreement principles) 11

19 Continues financial support to prevent, control and eradicate ASF Since 2013: grants of EUR 95 million awarded for programmes + emergency measures implemented by MS in the combat against ASF (up to 75% co-funding of cost) Awareness campaigns and wild boar passive surveillance = eligible in all MSs (if not in approved programmes, under emergency measures) 19

20 Research on ASF FP7 projects: ASFORCE M EUR - contributed to better preparedness ASFRISK M EUR - serological and molecular diagnostic tools H2020 projects: DEFEND Topic SFS : M EUR - to identify the drivers of ASF emergence in Europe, to develop tools for its management (wild boar) + preliminary work to develop vaccine SWINOSTICS (3 M EUR), ASF-STOP (COST action for an international network with a broad aim on ASF surveillance and control), VETBIONET (10 M EUR) network of facilities researching animal diseases on infectious animal diseases - including ASF Topic SFS : 10 M EUR support the development of an effective ASF vaccine ERANETs agri-food amended to broaden its scope to infectious animal diseases (strong focus on ASF/wildlife/epidemiology) 5 M EUR) Expected: further pull via calls/activities under this ERANET additional M EUR over the years portfolio of actions taken/planned covering ASF > million 20
