2 General Opening Comments Jeannine Methe Discussion: Jeannine welcomed everyone to the 3CBG meeting. 3 General Approval of 11/10/2011 Minutes Jeannine Methe Discussion: Minutes approved as presented. The minutes are posted to the 3CBG file download site at and SunGard Commons. General SunGard Higher Education Report Rick Legoza Discussion: Rick reported that it looks like LACCD is going to select Oracle/PeopleSoft in lieu of Banner. Pasadena City College is currently going through a bid process to select a new enterprise system. The demonstrations are scheduled in March. The SunGard / Datatel merger continues and may be finalized shortly. SunGard is working with elected representatives in Sacramento to address some of the Student Success Task Force recommendations especially educational planning and degree audit solutions. General CCB Report / 3CSC Report Robert Hughes / Mike Reid Discussion: Mike reported that there are two upcoming releases from the 3CSC. Cal-B HR will release on 1/31/2012. This will be the final full PERS release. Cal-B 8.6 will be released on 2/24/2012. It resolves some of the Title V changes affecting the 320 report and may include support for Banner Student which is the most recent release of Student. They are working on a BOG-W project and MIS changes for A Cal-B ODS project will kick off in February and they are starting to plan to move the Cal-B changes to Banner 9. Robert reported that CCB has a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 18 and if anyone has technical items for the agenda, please forward them to Robert. Page 3 of 5

4 New Business Election of Officers Discussion: The 3CBG Ballot included: Chair: Jeannine Methe Vice Chair: Adrian Agundez Treasurer: Deborah Ludford Secretary: Victor Belinski The ballot was voted on it its entirety and approved by a unanimous vote of all members present. Officers begin their position immediately. The next election is January Update 3CBG officer information on website Vic Belinski 2/1/2012 New Business Plan for Transition to Banner 9 and Mobile Apps Training Janice House / Discussion: Coast hosted a training session led by SunGard on how to develop mobile apps. The training session was full. The same training session may also be scheduled in the north. If 3CBG members are interested in attending this type of session, please forward an to Peggy Davis. A de-support date for Banner 8 has not been announced and is most likely four to five years away. Mike indicated that there will be new functionality in Banner 9 that won t be added to Banner 8. The Solution Center is working on training plans to move Cal-B to the Banner 9 platform but there are no set timelines yet. Page 4 of 5

5 New Business 2012 Conference Discussion: The group discussed the options for a 2012 conference. Given the continuing budget conditions, the group agreed to continue with the two one-day conferences. The group also discussed the comments from the 2011 conference survey. Some afternoon presenters had very few attendees at their sessions. The conference planning team should consider some options for encouraging late session attendance like doing prizes at the end of the conference and ensuring there is no session topic overlap. In future years, 3CBG may consider reaching out to the Datatel users group for a joint conference or the opportunity to share hotel and meeting space but each group schedules system specific sessions. John will explore options for starting the conference in the north and ending in the south. Some schools commented that the end of August and the first week of September are not good due to the start of the fall semester. Some possible conference weeks are mid to late September. John will explore hotel options and report back at the next meeting. New Business SunGard Summit Discussion: The group discussed the SunGard Summit conference. Schools are trying to send at least one or two attendees but due to budget constraints, travel is limited. SunGard is also offering some of the Summit sessions via webinar for a fee. SunGard will investigate the possibility of coordinating a meet-up for CA community college attendees. The next meeting is Friday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. Page 5 of 5
