1 Supplemental Information The Hopkins Candy Factory building was designed by local architect Albert Speiden in 1907 and built in It served as a new manufacturing plant for the company, which had previously been located (ca 1900) in a small wooden framed house behind what is now Manassas Clay. As the candy factory, it was the largest industrial building in Manassas at the time, with five to ten tons of chocolate and satin finish hard candles produced daily until By 1917, the Manassas Feed and Milling Corporation had taken over the building and converted it into a flour and feed mill. It is said to have been the largest engine-powered mill in the country. Southern States Manassas Cooperative later continued its agricultural usage selling seed, fertilizer and feed. The last commercial owner, Merchant Tire and Auto, used the factory as a tire warehouse until the Merchant family donated the building to the City in Fully restored in 2001, it is now the home to the Center for the Arts
