1 AAA Im ports July 2010 Page 1 AAA Imports' monthly publication for the premier dish garden, lucky bamboo & bonsai grower Volume 10, Issue 07 - July 2010 Trip to San Diego I visited San Diego in late May for a business trip and it was my fi rst time there. The city is well known for its warm hospitality, near-perfect weather, breathtaking beauty, and funfi lled outdoor recreational activities. San Diego has a collection of worldclass attractions including the San Diego Zoo, Legoland California, USS Midway Museum, and Seaworld. For this trip, unfortunately, I didn't have time to visit any of those attractions. Since I only had a few hours before the next flight, I decided to take a two hour Harbor cruise. The sunny weather was soothing and the view was stunning. The harbor was fi lled with numerous warships; I've never seen so many in my life! San Diego is the largest base for manufacturing ships and warships in the U.S. The time was short but next time I visit, I already have some idea on what attractions I am going to see. Bob

4 AAA Im ports July 2010 Page 4 DB Brown Wash Basket w/ liners [pack 48] This 10 basket has handles; it comes in a light brown color, has four assorted styles and comes in an arrangement of sizes ranging from a 5 all the way to a 14. The opening on the basket is 10 in diameter and 4.5 in height. This basket will make a great arrangement for fall and can be used for more then dish gardens. It can be used as a gift basket for a variety of holidays, storage for smaller items. Also, when planted as a dish garden this basket can make a wonderful center piece for the table. Tammy P Basket Planted by: Arnold Foliage 3873 Lake Pickett Court Orlando Fl, Phone "Baby Back Ribs" by Debs Slow-cook the ribs during the day and they will be ready to fi nish on the grill when you get home. excerpted from allrecipes.com INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 pounds pork baby back ribs, cut into serving size pieces 5 cups water 1 medium onion, sliced 2 celery ribs, cut in half 2 teaspoons minced garlic, divided 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns 1/2 cup barbecue sauce 1/4 cup plum sauce 1 dash hot pepper sauce DIRECTIONS 1. Place the ribs in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Add the water, onion, celery, 1 teaspoon garlic and peppercorns. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until meat is tender. 2. In a small saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, plum sauce, hot pepper sauce and remaining garlic. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes or until heated through. Remove ribs. Discard cooking juices and vegetables. 3. Coat grill rack with nonstick cooking spray before starting the grill. Brush ribs with sauce. Grill, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes or until browned, turning occasionally and brushing with remaining sauce.

5 AAA Im ports July 2010 Page 5 Grilling safety tips from the desk of Debbie and Tammy 1. Never wear loose clothing or sleeves that dangle over the grill 2. For those of you with long hair always tie your hair back in a ponytail or pin your hair up. 3. Have a fi re extinguisher handy for fl are ups and have an ice chest full of cold beer and beverages to throw on the grill if needed. 4. Never use a grill in your home or in the garage, always go out doors 5. If grilling on the patio pull the grill away from the side enclosures. 6. Never let small children or pets near the grill when it s on or cooling down. 7. Do not add lighter fl uid to pre soaked charcoal or you will have your own firework display before your dinner. Have fun grilling but please be safe

10 AAA Im ports July 2010 Page 10 Fire works Safety 1. Water lawn at dusk if you have neighbors that set off the big fire works. 2. Clean out your gutters 3. Never let young children play with fire works 4. If you have pets make sure they are inside before you set the fire works off. Some animals may become spooked or run from the loud noise. 5. Always purchase fire works from a reliable source 6. Follow label directions carefully. And other words read the directions and guys this means yes you have to read. 7. Never point or throw fire works at another person. Never attempt a bottle rocket wars. 8. Always use fire works in a clear area away from trees, buildings and vehicles and never set them off in your garage. In Fl we like to set them off on our boats. 9. Never carry fireworks in your pocket or shoot them in metal or glass containers in other words plastic jugs. LOL 10. Only light them one at a time then move back quickly 11. Keep children and pets away from the fire works while lighting them. 12. Never use fire works as an alternative weapon to get rid of unwanted critters. LOL Are you paying attention yet? 13. Never experiment with home made fireworks because something could go wrong. 14. Someone in the group must have a cell phone that works incase there is an emergency and always have a camcorder ready to catch those funny moments when your grilling, drinking and setting off fire works. Most of all have fun Tammy and Debbie 4th of July Birdhouse Our red, white and blue ceramic birdhouse would be a hit for that special BBQ! You could plant it up with fl owers as we did or drop a plant in it. Here is a really cool idea, to use it for your napkins and or plastic wear. You could place your salt and pepper shakers in it along with some other condiments. The ideas are endless so come on in and have this sitting at your next get together! Kim

11 AAA Im ports July 2010 Page 11 Juniper Bonsai We have 5 Juniper Bonsai in the DecoGallery Store! Here are some basic instructions for the care of your Bonsai plant: Bonsai are usually grown outdoors, and brought inside for display. You may put your bonsai inside, as long as the tree receives 2 hours of direct sunlight every day. Water your bonsai every 2-3 days, setting the pot in water rim deep for ½ to 1 hour. You may use a fertilizer such as Miracle Grow in a weak solution about every 6 weeks. In the spring, buds will begin forming on the branch tips. If these buds are trimmed, fast-growing limbs will develop. You may prune these limbs according to your own personal expression, creating your own work of art. Jenny
