1 AGENDA REPORT Meeting Date: Item Number: To: From: February 7, 2017 F 3 Honorable Mayor & City Council Don Rhoads, Director of Administrative Services/CFO Shelley Ovrom, Assistant Director of Administrative Services/HR Subject: Attachments: APPROVAL OF SALARY SCHEDULES 1. Salary schedule effective October 7, Salary schedule effective February 18, 2017 RECOMMENDATION It is recommended the attached salary schedules reflecting the negotiated increases with the Beverly Hills Police Officers Association (BHPOA) be approved. INTRODUCTION The Police Officers Association Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) expired on October 6, The City and the POA have been in negotiations for a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is being considered by Council for approval at this meeting of February 7, The negotiated increases in the MOU must be reflected on a Councilapproved salary schedule to meet requirements of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CaIPERS). DISCUSSION The California Public Employees Retirement System (CaIPERS) requires that the City Council approve a publicly available salary schedule for all negotiated pay rate increases (Government Code (b)(1) and CCR 570.5). In order to meet CaIPERS requirements, the City Council is required to adopt a comprehensive publicly available pay schedule independent from the salary schedules attached to the Memorandum of Understanding. Therefore, Staff is requesting that the City Council approve a Page 1 of2 2/1/2017

2 comprehensive salary schedule that incorporates negotiated salary increases per the BHPOA MOU. FISCAL IMPACT The attached salary schedules are reflective of the salary ranges approved by the City Council within the recently negotiated BHPOA MOU. As such, there is no fiscal impact associated with passing this resolution. The fiscal impact of the salary schedule increases are included in the costing and fiscal impact analysis prepared for the labor negotiations process. / ]5 hoads / Shelle( Ovrom Finance Approval Approved By Page2of2 2/1/2017
