1 Homesite Online University Curricula General Insurance Topics Insurance Industry Overview Mini Series INTRODUCTION TO THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY MINI MODULE OVERVIEW: This learning module series reviews essential insurance terms, definitions and categories of insurance and describes the core functions of an insurance carrier. EXPLANATION OF INSURANCE AND KEY TERMS: In this module, you will cover the following topics: The definition of insurance, insurance terms and vernacular, and an overview of Loss Settlement, Liability and Business Flows. CARRIER ORGANIZATION: In this module, you will cover the following topics: A detailed look at the following insurance company departments, including Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, Operations/Policy Issuance/Service, Information Technologies, and Human Resources. INSURANCE AGENTS AND BROKERS: In this module, you will cover the following topics: The Definition of Agents and Brokers, the Role of Agents, the Types of Agencies, Errors & Omissions within the Agency, the Three Levels of Authority, Details of Agent Compensation, and Agent Trade Associations. INTRODUCTION TO PROPERTY INSURANCE: In this module, you will cover the following topics: Property Risk Transfer Overview, Property at Risk and Exposure to Loss, Policy Concepts and Structure. INTRODUCTION TO CASUALTY INSURNACE: In this module, you will cover the following topics: Casualty Risk Transfer Overview and Assets at Risk and Exposure to Loss. Homesite Video Center: Intro to Risk Transfer INTRODUCTION TO RISK TRANSFER AND POLICY DESIGN: (Windows and Apple Version available, Windows Version Preferred) In this video you will learn the following: the definition of insurance policy, the four main responses to risk, risk transfer and policy design, and policy core components. DECLARATIONS, COVERAGES, AND EXCLUSIONS: (Windows and Apple Version available, Windows Version Preferred) In this video you will learn the following: the purpose of the declarations page, what the insuring agreement establishes, coverage triggers for different policies, and the five broad categories of exclusions.

2 HOMEOWNERS HO-3 MINI SERIES: HO-3 MINI MODULE OVERVIEW: Video summary of learning objectives for HO-3 Mini module. A REVIEW OF HOMEOWNERS INSURNACE: In this module, you will review the purpose of a Homeowners Policy, understand for whom Homeowners Policies are designed, and recognize the sections and features of the HO-3 Policy Form. UNDERSTANDING HO-3 PROPERTY COVERAGE: In this module, you will review the HO-3 Special Form as it relates to property; specifically Coverages A through D and limits of liability. You will also gain an understanding of which perils are protected by the HO-3 form, as well as which perils are excluded. UNDERSTANDING HO-3 LIABILITY COVERAGE: In this module, you will proceed through an overview of liability coverage, retain the definition of limits of liability, gain an understanding of Coverages E and F, and become familiar with the additional coverages and exclusions related to liability. HO-3 SPECIFIC ENDORSEMENTS: This course contains endorsements applicable to this policy form. Be sure to review the endorsements in the mini module, following up with your supervisor to take note of any new or updated endorsements that may also be applicable. HO-3 FINAL ASSESSMENT HOMEOWNERS HO-4 MINI SERIES: HO-4 MINI MODULE OVERVIEW: Video summary of learning objectives for HO-4 Mini module. PROPERTY COVERAGE: In this module, you will understand the purpose of the HO-policy form, unveil who should have HO-4 policy, determine the coverages offered by HO-4, and understand an example of policy limits for HO-4. LIABILITY COVERAGE: This module will provide you with an overview of liability coverage in the HO4 policy. You will learn about Coverages E and F and the limits for each as well as the exclusions and conditions outlined in section 2 of the HO4 policy. 3 Homesite Products ISO 2011 Homeowners Property & Liability ISO 2011 CHANGES IN COVERAGE AND LIMITS: This online learning module is a Homesite reference for all important changes between the ISO 1991 and the ISO 2011 version. Policy language changes between 1991 and 2011 relate to many different elements within the policy. This module categorizes changes into four sections: 1. Definition Changes; 2. Broadenings of Coverage - Coverage C, D, E and F; 3. Changes in Coverage Intent or Limits Provided; 4. Reductions in Coverage. A COMPREHENSIVE VIEW OF HOMESITE ENDORSEMENTS: This course will provide you with a comprehensive view of Homesite Endorsements. Please note that the examples are related to the ISO 2011 form except when listed as an individual coverage. This course will be driven by the following layout: Endorsement Definition; ISO 1991 Notes; ISO 2011 Notes; State Specific Information; Endorsement Example. EFORM AUTOMATION TUTORIAL- MANUAL BINDERS: This course contains the eform Automation Manual Binders course.

4 Commercial Lines General Liability Courses CGL CORE PRINCIPLES reviews the Commercial General Liability policy including policy structure, coverage triggers and limits of insurance. CGL COVERAGES reviews Coverages A, B and C including insuring agreements, triggers and exclusions. Supplementary Payments under Coverages A and B are also discussed. PRODUCTS AND COMPLETED OPERATIONS provides a detailed overview of the CGL policy s Products- Completed Operations coverage. The module starts with an overview of the products-completed operations liability insuring agreement and reviews definitions, exclusions, supplementary payments, limits of insurance and the claims-made extended reporting period. CGL EXCLUSIONS provides a detailed review of the CGL policy exclusions. CONTRACTORS ERRORS & OMISSIONS This module will introduce you to Contractors Errors & Omissions coverage and features. Manager s Series Management Courses NEW MANAGER ORIENTATION: New Managers at Homesite all need an overview of the essential policies and expectations. EMPLOYMENT LAW FOR SUPERVISORS AND MANAGERS: This module explains the fundamentals of Employment Law and Regulations. Managers will gain an overview of key employment laws along with compliance expectations. EFFECTIVE COACHING TECHNIQUES FOR LEADERS: Leaders will gain an understanding of how coaching impacts business results and how the manager s role builds trust and accountability throughout the team. You will acquire techniques and steps for delivering feedback.

6 Business Skills Series Business Skills Courses VERBAL COMMUNCIATION SKILLS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: The Verbal Communication Skills: Effective Communication learning module helps the learner to discover how to communicate eloquently in person and on the phone using examples and sample calls. The user will understand proper greeting, hold and transfer and closing protocol, as well as how to create impactful first impressions by using tone, body language and word choice to their advantage. BUILDING TRUST AND MANAGING CONFLICT: The Building Trust and Managing Conflict learning module helps the learner review the four communications styles often used and discussed in relationship management. BUSINESS WRITING 101: The Business Writing 101 learning module creates an overview of core business writing principles. The module reviews sentence structure, punctuation and grammar tips. Examples of correspondence often used within insurance agencies are included. The power and impact of word choice on the reader s perception is covered within this module. BUSINESS WRITING 201: The Business Writing 201 learning module leads the learner through a grammar review. The learning module also helps the user to understand multiple business writing essentials by providing examples of common grammatical errors. INTRODUCTION TO NEGOTIATION SKILLS: The Introduction to Negotiation Skills learning module introduces the learner to an overview of negotiation techniques and the seven steps to agreement. Utilizing great information as described by Harry Mills in his book The Street Smart Negotiator, the user will, after this learning module, be able to apply the tips to successfully negotiate within the insurance industry. NEGOTIATION STEPS AND BUILDING CREDIBILITY: The Negotiation Steps and Building Credibility learning module expands on the techniques from the Introduction to Negotiation Skills module. This module targets an approach to build credibility with the other party in a negotiation. POWERFUL AND PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This course introduces the user to the impact of effective messaging on professional relationships, stressing powerful and persuasive messaging. Powerful and persuasive messaging includes the impact of perceptions and impressions. The user will also develop planning techniques for communication and negotiating. PERSONAL TIME MANAGEMENT: In the Personal Time Management module, you will identify time wasters and tips for setting priorities, understand what items rob you of your time each day and how to solve these issues, deploy techniques to avoid interruptions, understand how to say no positively and how to balance your client demands and deadlines, and finally, you will create a personal action plan for improving your time management skills. FINE TUNE YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH: This course outlines how to create an Elevator Pitch for your company, yourself and tailored to a specific individual. Using VLOOKUP is similar to looking up a person s name in a telephone book to get a telephone number. VLOOKUP looks at a value in one column, and finds its corresponding value on the same row in another column. 8 Workers Compensation Series Workers Compensation Courses: WORKERS COMPENSATION COVERAGES: This module provides a detailed review of the Workers Compensation and Employers Liability policy sections and coverages, including types of disabilities and Other States coverage. WORKERS COMPENSATION CLASSIFICATIONS: For most employers, the costs associated with Workers Compensation account for a significant portion of the firm's cost of risk. As a result, there is much to understand regarding Workers Compensation classification, rating and premium determination and risk financing options. This course provides an overview of: Exposure Base, Classification and Unmodified Premium Determination, and Premium Modification. Errors and Omissions Series Errors and Omissions Courses INTRODUCTION TO ERRORS AND OMISSIONS: This learning module introduces the learner to errors & omissions.
