1 One day workshop Do it yourself Filing of IT Return One day workshop was conducted for M.Com students to provide practical exposure on how to file income tax returns for themselves, family members and for their peers. The workshop was conducted in a simple language and with real forms and real time online demonstration on Income Tax Website. As M.Com students are already acquainted with theoretical knowledge of income tax provisions, with the touch of practical demonstration we tried to make them able to apply the provisions with ease. This workshop was an initial simple step towards the series of workshops to address more complex issues for the betterment and sharpening skills of students. At the end of this workshop students were able to address:-- Why to file income tax return? Which form to choose? How to make payment of tax? How to file the return? What should be done after filing return of income? Considerations in filing IT return for salaried employees. Why to file income tax return? 2 Two days workshop was conducted on Excel in Excel. Getting Started with Excel- Entering data, Formatting data - Number format, Date format, Percentage & Text format, Inserting rows & Columns, Adjusting row and Column width, Borders, Bold, Italic, Underline Font - type, color and size, Color fill, Merge, wrap text, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and division Cut, copy, paste and paste special, Basic Formulae -SUM, SUMIF, SUBTOTAL, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, MIN, MAX, COUNT, COUNTA, COUNTIF, Logical functions - IF, AND, OR, Multiple IF statements, PROPER, UPPER, LOWER Formatting and presentation- Pivot tables and Charts, Types of charts, Sorting and filtering data, Types of charts. Formatting and presentation- Conditional formatting, Conditional formatting with multiple conditions, Conditional formatting with multiple conditions, Page Layout & Settings. Practical exercises. Compliance, Quarterly TDS Return (Lab) Advance Tax and Interest: Introduction, Companies, Individuals, Interest u/s 234A, 234B and 234C. Business Income: Financial Statements, Computation of taxable Income, Minimal Alternative Tax, Disallowance of Expenses, Tax Calculations, Filing IT Return for Business Assessment of Companies, Professional Tax:-Introduction, Applicability, Registration, Filing Return, Introduction to Service tax, Assessment In addition to the above, the following soft skill programs were also conducted for the students.
