Come learn when and how to use this life-saving equipment. This split session also includes an overview of procedures outlined in the District's Critical Incident Response plan. This plan, which has been organized into a flip chart, is posted in every room of our district buildings and on the District website. How well informed are we as staff members about our district? How does the public perceive us in our role as employees of the Sequim School District? How can our words and actions enhance the quality of education we provide to our students? Learn more about the important part we each play as Sequim School District representatives and what it means to be an Ambassador. 12 Noon Band Room #407 Instructors: Supt. Kelly Shea & Patsene Dashiell/ A u t i s m In this workshop for understanding autistic/sensory kids, the participant will be introduced to what may be expected of an autistic student including some of the ways autistic people think and react. The participant will be provided with strategies for working with autistic students. This workshop will be part lecture and part group discussion/question and answer. No previous coursework or experience required. Participant must bring his/her sense of humor. 9:30 and Art Room #417 Matt Duchow/ B u l l y i n g The thrust of this training is to provide school employees and/ or students (grades 5-12) with best practice strategies, and practical tools as they relate to minimizing bullying in schools. By proactively becoming aware of the latest reporting, documentation and investigation procedures, your school will begin the process of resolving peer conflict before it escalates. 12 Noon Bruce/Canfield

The employer has the right and responsibility to establish and maintain a well-disciplined workplace that is free from harassment, intimidation and bullying. This basic rule provides guidelines for dealing with workplace anger. The training would be beneficial for supervisors directed to confront this issue, or any employee who has to deal with this problem in their job. The training can be directed at any source of anger: customer, co-worker, supervisor, student, or parent. The primary goals of this course are to both understand and control your own anger, and to be able to effectively deal with expressed anger in others. This workshop reveals the latest research in relation to workplace climate including: workplace climate and its impact on liability, the role of leadership in fostering an enhanced workplace, and how employees define successful leadership. Each session is designed to meet the needs of both leadership and employees alike. By blending current research with contemporary best-practice analysis, participants learn the essential building blocks to enhance their workplaces. The current and future facility needs of our schools will be looked at and discussed. The District is looking to develop a vision of what facilities are needed for 21st century learners. We are striving to draw from a broad spectrum of thinking, so let s share our ideas and keep an open mind. Your input will be greatly valued. All workplaces face personnel issues that can have a negative impact on every aspect of business. While rules, procedures, policies, and codes of conduct attempt to prevent problems by setting clear expectations, no organization is totally free of workforce difficulties. This workshop addresses conduct that can create a breach or violation of workplace professionalism. Harassment, bullying, teasing, intimidation, workplace relationships, rumors, confidentiality, silence, violence, and retaliation are examples of topics discussed in a deterrent approach. Too often we operate in a crisis mode waiting until the problem explodes and are then forced to address the issue. Dealing with sensitive issues is most effective when it is done in a prevention format, which is the focus of this workshop. This personal assessment could give insight into the way you communicate with others, career choices, choosing friends, dealing with stress and making decisions. Time: 8:30 9:30 Choir Room #412 Marilyn Walsh/ R e c o g n i z i n g A n d R e p o r t i n g C h i l d A b u s e a n d M i s c o n d u c t This timely workshop discusses the recognition of child abuse and sexual misconduct from sources both within and outside of the organization. The workshop highlights when reporting is required, as well as vital information to include in reports. The training concludes by sharing how employees, administrators and volunteers can protect themselves, children and peers from allegations. 12 Noon Cafeteria Pat/Canfield R i g h t The RIGHT RESPONSE Workshop is an overview of the program designed for anyone who might encounter an individual with a behavioral escalation. The focus of this workshop centers on preparation and management of oneself for success when needing to de-escalate an individual or avoid their potentially dangerous behavior. Attendees in this workshop will learn the cycle of risk management and response. This process includes a large focus on Prevention strategies as well as De-escalation techniques including examples of what to say or do as well as what not to say or do. This course will provide a good overview for a person who has never had the RIGHT RE- SPONSE training and a good review for those that have already been trained. Where is my Earnings Statement?
