5 UNDERWRITING TIPS We know you re busy, and we know that every insurance company s underwriting rules are a little bit different. We want to make it easy for you to do business with us, so here are some underwriting guidelines to keep in mind! You are required to take and retain photos prior to issuing the policy, and photos need to remain in the customer s file. We underwrite the applicant s entire loss history, not just the losses at the location they are asking us to insure. Please make sure you ask your customer for details of ALL prior losses. The customer needs to answer all of the underwriting questions on the application. The completed signed application needs to remain in the customer s file. We do not accept homes with existing damage until the repairs have all been completed. Dwellings with missing roof shingles or missing siding are unacceptable. Dwellings need to be rated as vacant until the dwelling is occupied. Please indicate any renovations that the insured is conducting or planning. ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES Dwelling Fire One Intended for properties that are at a minimum in marginal condition and exhibit at least minimal maintenance on both the dwelling and grounds. For Vacant dwellings valued more than $500,000 up to $1,000,000, property must be in above-average condition with no cosmetic conditions, and exhibit above average maintenance on both the dwelling and grounds. Dwelling Fire Three Intended for properties that are at a minimum in average condition with minimal cosmetic conditions and exhibit at least average maintenance on both the dwelling and grounds. Foremost Classic ACV Intended for properties that at a minimum are in average condition with minimal cosmetic conditions and exhibit at least average maintenance on both the dwelling and grounds.
