2 2 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings As an Alliance Trust Savings customer, you have 24/7 secure online access to your Account(s). You can see all your investments, track performance, trade in real time, place orders to buy and sell funds as well as view your Account documents, including statements and valuations all in one convenient location. To help get you started, we ve put together this quick how-to guide. 3 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 3 LOG IN TO YOUR ACCOUNT To log in, simply go to alliancetrustsavings.co.uk and click Login in top right corner. You will need to enter your unique 8-digit Personal ID provided and Password and select Secure Login. The first time you log in, you will need to answer three short security questions. This allows us to be able to reset your details in future should you forget or lose your Personal ID and/ or Password. Go to Login, and follow prompts as above Enter a new Password (must be 8-12 characters long and must contain a capital letter, a lower case letter, at least one number and no special characters) Select Continue Lost or forgotten your Personal ID and/or Password? Call us on and we ll send you a new one. Alternatively, you can generate a new Password by selecting Can t remember your Personal ID or Password? on the Login page. We ll then send a new Password direct to the address we have on file for you.
4 4 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS Reviewing and updating your Account details and preferences is easy. You just need to follow the few simple steps below. Personal details We recommend that you check that all the personal details we have on file for you at least annually to ensure they are correct. Select Personal Details from the main toolbar Choose the option that you want to review or update Make the changes as needed and Confirm
5 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 5 Communication preferences As a customer, we are committed to keeping you informed. From updates on new products and services that are available to you, to investment ideas and topical magazines or important information about your Account, communication is a key element of our service to you. You decide what you would like to receive and the format. You have the option of online and post. Of note, if you choose post, a minimal charge is applicable. Full details can be found in our Charges Guide which is available on our website at alliancetrustsavings.co.uk. Select Personal Details from the main toolbar From Documents, select Preference Centre from the drop down menu Continue to next step and then Confirm your preferences to save them
6 6 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS (CONTINUED) Income preferences As a default, any income you receive from your investments will be set to reinvest. Once these investments are in your Alliance Trust Savings Account, you can amend your income options. Select Manage my Accounts from the main toolbar Select Income Management from the Money Management box For each of your investments, you can then choose your preferred income option and Confirm to save your changes If you wish to take a regular income, you will need to complete an Income Withdrawal Form and return to us. To download this, visit our website alliancetrustsavings.co.uk, select your Account type (for example, ISA) and go to Forms and Documents Withdrawal and select the appropriate form. For income reinvestment we won t reinvest until you have a minimum of 100 in the Cash Account for that investment (known as the Security Account). You can change the minimum purchase level for each investment. This can be set at 100, 150, 300 or 500. You can do this by calling our Customer Services Team at
7 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 7 SET UP REGULAR MONTHLY INVESTMENTS Invest for just 1.50 a trade through our Monthly Dealing Service*. First, you ll need to set up a monthly Direct Debit to your Alliance Trust Savings Account: Login to your Account and select Manage My Accounts from main toolbar Select New Direct Debit and follow the onscreen instructions Set your direct debit destination as Monthly Dealing Account Next, tell us what you want to buy each month (you can change this whenever you like): Select Trading Centre from the tool bar Then Investment Instructions (in the Monthly Trading box) Follow the onscreen instructions * Terms and conditions apply. 8 8 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings RESEARCH INVESTMENTS To help make your investment decisions easier, we offer an Investment Selector Tool. This can be found in the Research tab on the main toolbar. This tool is powered by Morningstar, one of the global leaders in investment research. You can use this to: View all investments that you can access through your Account Search for specific investments: Fund by manager or IMA sector UK and overseas companies Investment companies by manager or AIC sector Get details about particular investment risks See the investment manager charges (which are in addition to the charges you pay to us to manage your Account) Review past performance (it s important to remember though that past performance is not a guide to future performance)
9 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 9 Within Manage My Portfolio section, you also have the option to: Set up Investment Watch Lists to track investments you are interested in Set up a Transaction Portfolio to monitor the performance of your investments using your current portfolio positioning and the historic performance taking into account your buys, sells and other transactions. (You can) enter your transaction history from your preferred date or just your current portfolio, adding future transactions as you go
10 10 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings PLACE A SECURITIES TRADE OR A FUND ORDER When you are ready to place a securities trade or a fund order, the Trading Centre is where you need to be. You can locate this in the main toolbar. Here you can choose to buy a quantity of shares, invest an amount of money or sell a quantity of shares or raise an amount of money.
11 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 11 To trade in listed securities: To buy or sell listed securities (Stocks and Shares, Investment Trusts and Exchange Traded Funds, select Trade Now Enter the investment symbol for the investment you want to trade (for example, ATST is the symbol for Alliance Trust) If you don t know the investment symbol, click on Search and enter the name of the investment or the company name. This will then give you the investment symbol you need. Select this and return to the trading page Under the investment symbol, enter the amount or quantity Continue to the next step and review your order If you are happy to proceed, select Continue Now you will be given a live quote from the market. You have 15 seconds to accept the price, if you don t accept within the time then you will have to re select the continue button in order to get a new quote To place a fund order: To buy or sell Unit Trusts or OEICs, select Place a Fund Order in the Fund Supermarket section of the Trading Centre If you don t know the name of the fund, click on Search and enter the company name to get a list of funds from the fund manager for you to select the relevant code you need and return to the trading page Under the fund code, enter the amount or quantity Continue to the next step and review your order If you are happy to proceed, select Confirm Your order will be placed at the next dealing point for that fund
12 12 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings PLACE A SECURITIES TRADE OR A FUND ORDER Funds are usually priced once a day (although some are priced weekly) and have a cut-off time for placing orders each day. This is known as forward pricing and means you will never know the trading price in advance. If you place your order after the daily cut-off time, you will typically trade at the next day s price. We will confirm the price you paid in your Contract Note that is sent to you after your order is completed. You will be able to view all Contract Notes in your Documents.
13 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 13 TOP UP YOUR ACCOUNT If you would like to make a one-off investment to your Account, you can top up in one of three ways. By Debit card Select Manage My Accounts from the main toolbar Choose Debit Card within the Money Management box Follow the onscreen instructions. You can also call our Customer Services Team and make a Direct Debit payment over the phone By cheque You can post a cheque, along with a signed written instruction that details the Account the payment is for and which Cash Management Account you would like your cash to be placed into, to the following: Alliance Trust Savings Limited PO Box 164, 8 West Marketgait, Dundee DD1 9YP By direct transfer from your bank account Before transferring, you will need to send us written instructions advising which Account the payment is for and which Cash Management Account you would like it paid into. This instruction can be scanned and sent to us as an attachment to an . You can also call our Customer Services Team to give a telephone instruction. You can make a payment into your Alliance Trust Savings Account directly from your bank account using the bank details below. Please note, we can only accept payments from a UK bank account. Sort Code: Account Number: Be sure to include your Alliance Trust Savings Account Number as the reference detail before completing your bank transfer.
14 14 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings ACCESS YOUR DOCUMENTS One of the advantages of using our online service is that you can access your Statements, Valuations, Consolidated Tax Certificates and Contract Notes at any time, from anywhere in the world. Everything is at your fingertips and at no extra charge to you. Select Personal Details from the main tool bar Choose Documents in the Document Settings box Select which document you would like to view from the Document Type dropdown Consolidated Tax Certificates (for Investment Dealing Accounts) are available after tax-year end and Contract Notes are added when a trade is completed. If you choose to reinvest your income, you will be able to view a Contract Note for each reinvestment.
15 Get connected with Alliance Trust Savings 15 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is my online Account secure? Yes. When you are logged in, you are protected with AES 256 bit transport layer security industry standard security that protects the web s most important websites. How can I safeguard my Account(s)? Look after your security details remember that our customer services representatives will never ask you to tell us your Personal ID and Password in order to access your plans. Your Personal ID and Password are the key to accessing your Account(s) and information online. You should keep these in a safe place, never share them with anyone else, and change your password regularly to ensure its security. How often is my Account updated? Any Equities, Investment Trusts or ETF s held within your Account will update every 15 minutes during market hours 8am to 4.30pm (market hours may vary for non-uk stocks). Research Centre Equities, Investment Trusts or ETF s will update every 15 minutes during market hours 8am to 4.30pm (market hours may vary for non-uk stocks). Fund prices update on a daily basis, overnight. Can anyone other than myself access my Account? If you would like someone else to have access to view and/or discuss your Account or trade on your behalf, you can complete a Third-Party Authority Form. This can be found at alliancetrustsavings.co.uk within the Forms and Documents section of the Account type you are wishing to give access, for example, your Individual Saving Account, under General forms. Can you give me advice? No. We aren t authorised to give advice. But, you can find useful research tools, ideas and information in the Research section of your online site to help you can make informed investment decisions. If you feel that you would benefit from advice, you should speak with a Financial Adviser.
