1 RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
2 RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST Port Corpus Christi (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic individual to assist with the long term strategic mission of the PCCA. The qualified individual is responsible for assisting with the management of the Worker s Compensation program and serves as liaison to the PCCA insurance carrier for worker s compensation, liability and subrogation claims, including all aspects as required by Texas Department of Insurance. RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST: Prepares and submits all forms, as required by Division of Workers Compensation, including; DWC 6, DWC 73, DWC 1, etc. Prepares and submits supplemental wage income documents as required by DWC. Calculates weekly wage statements and submits DW6 to the assigned workers compensation adjusters. Performs mandatory training to PCC employees regarding certified network provider information. Oversees the limited duty assignments for Risk Management division. Provides a copy of the injured employee s job description to the treating physician and any other medical professionals involved in the injured employee s treatment. Contacts treating physician and assists injured employees with scheduling medical appointments. Issues Bona Fide Employment Offer letters to injured employees, as required by DWC. Conducts monthly claims review with Claims Adjusters and Risk Manager to ensure cost containment of claims. Acts as a liaison between injured employee, Claims Adjusters and Medical Providers. Facilitates the workers compensation insurance RFP and ensuing contract. Facilitates the annual workers compensation insurance audit. Coordinates claims against responsible parties for damage to PCC property and liability claims. Enters all documents related to the injury and case management into the DocuWare system. Submits liability claims to the PCC s insurance carrier and assists in the coordination of claims with liability adjusters. Assists with the coordination of the property and casualty insurance programs and recommends changes in policy forms. Prepares statistical claims reports, projects and performs related duties and tasks as assigned. Adheres to all PCC policies, adheres the SEAPORT values and maintains good employee relations. While performing duties, this position regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hand to finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 20 Pounds. Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to the elements when visiting worksites Ability to operate a light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment 2
3 ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Associate s or Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance or related field from an accredited public or private institution preferred. Adjuster s license preferred. Ability to obtain the ARM designation within two years of employment Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment 3 years of related risk management or insurance experience required.
