3 What is a Project? Is a temporary endeavour undertake to create a unique product or service. (PMBOK) One time multi-activity job with clearly defined starting and end dates, a specific scope of work to be performed, a budget, and specified level of performance to be achieved.

9 Project Management Life Cycle Phases Pre-project Define business requirements and prioritize the project Initiating Gain customer or organizational approval to proceed with the project Planning Gain a clearer understanding of what the project is to accomplish, how it will be accomplished, and the resources required Executing and Controlling Coordinate people and other resources to carry out the plan Meet project objectives by monitoring and measuring progress to identify variances from the plan Closing Formalize acceptance of the project or phase and bring it to an orderly end
