1 TO: FOM: T: pril 27, 2015 IS #11 School Board Members M M O U M Cind eichert, noka Count lections Manager SUBJCT: esolution stablishing 2015 istrict staff and the noka Count lections Office have worked together to configure precinct combinations and appropriate polling locations for the 2015 IS #11 elections. The attached resolution establishes voting locations for all six sub-districts. Once established, school district combination precinct designations remain in effect until changed. resolution changing or assigning new voting locations can be passed at an time in the future, but not within 90 das of a regularl scheduled election Precincts and Polling Places The IS #11 general election to be held on ovember 3 rd will elect officers onl in sub-districts 1, 2 and 5. Board member seats in sub-districts 3, 4, and 6 are not scheduled for election this ear. If the district resolves to put a question before voters in 2015, a special election would be called to run in conjunction with the general election. In that case, voters from all six sub-districts would vote on the question, and voters from sub-districts 1, 2, & 5 would vote on board member seats. Use of School Buildings as Polling Places In response to concerns regarding the use of school buildings as polling places, we have continued to secure alternative locations whenever possible. If no question is put forth this fall, onl two of the proposed locations will be used and the remaining three would not be emploed until the 2017 election. The schools proposed to be used as polling places are: Count Combination Precinct School Participating in 2015 Hennepin IS #11 SB5 P2 MOO LMTY SCHOOL Yes Hennepin IS #11 SB5 P4 CHMPLI-BOOKLY PK CMY Yes Hennepin IS #11 SB3 P1 YTO LMTY SCHOOL Onl if question added Hennepin IS #11 SB3 P4 JCKSO MIL SCHOOL Onl if question added noka IS #11 SB6 P3 OV LMTY SCHOOL Onl if question added
2 Public otice When polling place locations change, all affected households with at least one registered voter affected b the change must receive a mailed notice informing them of the change. The minimum legal requirement would provide notice onl to households in sub-districts 1, 2, & 5, and onl if the building in which the are voting has changed since the last school district election in which the persons in those sub-districts voted. If a question is added to the ballot, affected households in sub-districts 3, 4 & 6 will also be informed via mailed notice. noka Count voters experienced substantive changes in 2012 and 2013 polling locations as a result of the redistricting process. ven in non-redistricting ears our voters are confused b changes in location from the regular cit precincts in even ears, to the combined precincts in odd ear elections. ll precinct finding tools will be updated to reflect the correct voting location for voters, regardless of whether the will use cit or school district precincts. In addition to the legall required notice, noka Count will distribute signs to be posted on the doors of buildings used in the past two elections that are not being used as polling places this ear. ttachments: esolution stablishing Combined Polling Places Maps of
