2 Anaesthetic Technician s APC Process APC Process To begin the process to renew your APC, please select the link APC You have the option of requesting your name to being removed from the register. The Registration Manager may contact you if you request this option. If you select Yes, you request will go to the Registration Manager and a Reason for removal box will appear. You must complete this box.

3 If you select No you will be shown on the register as not holding a current APC. Contact details You must update your contact details before you can continue through the renewal process. The fields marked with a red * are mandatory fields. Once you have completed the details, select the Continue button at the bottom of the screen. If you have any queries, please the Council msc@medsci.co.nz You have the option of select Use My Residential Address Or Use My Work Address or Use another Address as your postal address.

5 Payment Options Once you have completed the declaration an invoice will be ed to you. You have two options for payment, credit card and online banking. To use credit card select Pay by Credit Card Credit card transaction will take you to the secure DPS Payment Express website. Enter your credit card information and Submit for payment to take place. For online banking see invoice in My Profile then: Go to your Internet Banking site. DO NOT Select bill payee Medical Sciences Council Use the one off payment facility, do not choose Medical Sciences Council from the Bill Payees Particulars field - enter Registration number Code - Enter Surname Reference field Your invoice number You can now pay for your APC at a later time, by logging into your profile and clicking on the invoice:

14 Information for Practitioners Section 8 (1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 states: Every health practitioner who practices the profession in respect of which he or she is registered must have a current practising certificate issued by the responsible authority. You must have been granted registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council before you can apply for an annual practising certificate (APC). If you wish to work in a New Zealand diagnostic medical laboratory you must hold a current APC. Your APC is issued by the Medical Sciences Council and is valid for a twelve month period from 1 April through to 31 March of the next calendar year, or any part thereof. When you apply for an APC you must provide a complete and accurate set of all the required documentation and fee payment before your APC is issued. Providing all required documentation and the correct fee payment have been received you will be regarded as holding an APC from the date the application was received until the date it is issued. At all times, it is expected that you will practice within your area of competence
