3 Your presenters Chris Owen, Partner TLT Solicitors As head of Commercial Dispute Resolution at TLT, Chris specialises in contractual and warranty claims; IT hardware/software and maintenance contracts; manufacturing and engineering disputes; injunction proceedings; Search and Seize and Asset Freezing orders; professional negligence; arbitration proceedings and mediation (Chris is an accredited ADR mediator); and cross border claims and jurisdiction issues. James Pearce-Smith, Call 2002 St John s Chambers James, a former solicitor, is an experienced litigator who specialises in commercial and property disputes. His practice includes shareholder and partnership disputes, construction disputes and insolvency, and he is often instructed in complex disputes which span more than one of these disciplines. James acts for businesses in a wide range of commercial disputes. His clients range from SMEs to supermarkets and cover many industries, including the agricultural sector. He also has considerable experience of commercial disputes from his time as a solicitor. Saima Hanif, Call Essex Street Saima is a Recommended Junior in three areas in the legal directories, including Financial Services ( Her advice is detailed, thorough, commercially focused and client-friendly. She has extensive experience of mis-selling claims, over a range of financial instruments including swaps, pension products and mortgage products. She is currently acting for Mr Roberts (the former CEO of Catalyst) in the Upper Tribunal and is led by Hodge Malek QC and recently represented the IFA firm in a judicial review of a FOS jurisdiction decision relating to an alleged CIS (Chancery (UK) LLP v FOS [2015] EWHC 407 (Admin)). Previously she acted for Mr Ford (the former CEO of Keydata) in the high-profile FSA investigation and successfully represented him in a landmark judicial review claim against the regulator (Ford v FSA [2013]). Her practice is cross-border and she acts for individuals and regulators in a number of jurisdictions, including Dubai, the Isle of Man and Guernsey. Her experience in this area has been enhanced by secondments to the Financial Services department of Clifford Chance, the Bank of England and both the Enforcement Division and General Counsel s Division of the FCA. She is published widely and is a contributor to PLC s financial services column Stefan Ramel, Call 2002 Guildhall Chambers Stefan is a highly regarded commercial advocate who litigates regularly in the High Court and who has also appeared several times without a leader in the Court of Appeal. He frequently undertakes drafting and advisory work in multi-million pound cases. He is on the Attorney General's Regional Panel for government work, and also sits in a judicial capacity for British Fencing.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Chartered Arbitrator, Mediator, TECBAR and TeCSA construction industry Adjudicator and a former Deputy District Judge. He has wide experience of dispute resolution as solicitor, counsel and independent neutral. Andrew trained as a mediator in 2007, and has acted as a trainer and group leader on Inner Temple mediation training. Guy Adams, Call 1989 St John s Chambers Guy is a chancery and commercial specialist who acts in complex cases across a range of practice areas. His practice extends from advising and acting for commercial clients in purely commercial contract matters, through shareholders disputes, disputes arising on the sale of a business, termination of office or the break up of a professional partnership to more traditional chancery matters such as landlord and tenant, property and trusts. Guy has a particular interest in equitable remedies for breaches of fiduciary duty, setting aside seemingly effective transactions for mistake, misrepresentation or undue influence or enforcing informal or flawed transactions by invoking the principles of constructive trust or estoppel. In administrative law matters Guy has particular experience of acting for commercial clients whose business interests have been adversely affected by administrative decisions. Jorren Knibbe, Call 2005 Guildhall Chambers Jorren specialises in commercial litigation and disputes raising public law and regulatory issues. Alongside his general commercial work, Jorren has significant experience in public and EU law matters, including competition, public procurement, planning and environmental law. Jorren has spent time working as an employed barrister in a top-20 UK law firm, and is recognised for his clientfriendly approach and understanding of business objectives.
