2 Course overview Christina Fitzgerald SGH Martineau LLP Mark Patterson AlixPartners LLP Course overview This course is intended to provide delegates with a greater knowledge of property insolvency and restructuring. It will cover recent legal developments and offer practical tips and market insight with short informative updates from industry experts. Property rights continue to cause tension between the various stakeholders. Delegates will hear both the company s and landlord s perspective on CVAs, be provided with a legal update and there will also be an update on CRAR. The course will also cover cross-border issues and provide delegates with practical tips on the recovery of German and Spanish property assets. Who is this course aimed at? The course is aimed at insolvency practitioners, accountants, property agents, lawyers and restructuring professionals who deal with real estate assets. Delegates with a range of experience will benefit from the content. Speakers Christina Fitzgerald works in the restructuring and insolvency department at SGH Martineau LLP and deals with all aspects of contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency, advising insolvency practitioners, accountants, banks, ABLs, and other commercial organisations. Christina is also an experienced litigator and acts for clients in a wide range of litigation disputes. Duncan Lockhart joined SGH Martineau LLP in 2011, having acquired substantial experience of both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work. Duncan has acted for insolvency practitioners, debtors and creditors in respect of both corporate and personal insolvency processes including distressed sales, bankruptcy, administrations, liquidations and book debt collection. Elaine Nolan is a restructuring partner in Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Elaine advises strategic investors, sponsors, insolvency practitioners, turnaround managers, directors, debtors and creditors in all forms of national and international financial restructurings and insolvencies. Georgina Eason is a partner, insolvency practitioner and fixed charge receiver at Macintyre Hudson. She has been appointed on a number of complex receiverships and administrations involving both part built and completed property developments. Her wider portfolio includes numerous bankruptcies, solvent liquidations and reconstructions and other non property based liquidations, CVAs and administrations. Joe Pitt is the head of the recovery and restructuring team at BNP Paribas Real Estate. He has over 25 years experience in corporate and real estate restructuring and recovery work, across a broad range of asset classes and business sectors. John Cook is chairman of the insolvency committee at the British Property Federation and is also revenue manager at Capital & Regionals plc where his responsibly includes managing and developing the revenue cycle for all retail and leisure real estate assets under management. He also leads the team responsible for credit control, cash allocation, litigation and insolvency cases, tenant covenant risk analysis and mitigation and finance representation. Mark Patterson is an associate director in restructuring services at AlixPartners LLP and has over ten years experience of insolvency, corporate restructuring and advisory work. He has developed a broad range of corporate recovery, insolvency and advisory skills and specialises in advising distressed companies to identify and evaluate their strategic and optimal recovery options. Mathew Ditchburn is vice chairman of the British Property Federation s insolvency committee and is also a partner in the real estate disputes team at Hogan Lovells. He provides wide-ranging advice on all aspects of property litigation, including commercial landlord and tenant and redevelopment. His particular specialisms include insolvency-related matters, acting for landlords, lenders, corporates and insolvency practitioners. Richard Roe has over 20 years experience in the restructuring and insolvency market dealing with a variety of distressed property workouts. Prior to joining Eddisons he worked at PwC within their insolvency team, focusing on impaired property debt. Rob Waters is an associate director in the restructuring team at AlixPartners LLP, based in London. He has over eight years experience advising companies, lenders and other stakeholders on restructuring assignments. Rob has a wealth of experience in managing both large and complex UK and multijurisdictional assignments, across a range of sectors and industries. Roger Elford specialises in insolvency matters with particular expertise in property related insolvency issues, including disclaimers, LPA receiverships, rent as an expense claims and all insolvency aspects of commercial landlord and tenant situations. Roger was recently involved, for the landlord, in the 2012 High Court case of Lazari v Game UK. Rupert Atkinson is a director at Debt Squared Group and has extensive experience in relation to residential property, financial services and debt recovery. Rupert regularly speaks at events across the UK in relation to Commercial Rent Arears Recovery and other remedies which can be utilised by creditors to optimise recoveries. Stuart Puddy is an associate director in AlixPartners restructuring services. Stuart has nine years of experience in dealing with financially distressed companies and, since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2008, has been involved in a number of assignments from formal insolvencies through to IBRs. Stuart has recently spent seven months with Mamas & Papas guiding the company through a CVA and a major operational restructuring. Xavier Pareja is founding partner of Xavier Pareja Advocats and specialises in real estate, construction law and bankruptcy law. Xavier Pareja is a member of INSOL Europe and the Spanish Association of Law of Insolvency (AEDIN), while he regularly collaborates with the German Association of Insolvency Administrators (VID).
