With the UK s exit from the EU looming, many are concerned about the impact that the next correction will have on an over-heated market which is still counting the cost of the last major downturn. From student housing to buy-to-let, healthcare to leisure, agriculture to renewables, many aspects of the UK property market face major change and challenge. This course will consider the following: > The current market overview > Case study analysis > LPA receiverships > Legal updates This course is intended to provide delegates with an enhanced understanding of the property related issues that are commonly faced in insolvencies. It will include both the practical and technical aspects of property insolvency with up-to-date insights from industry professionals. Who is this course aimed at? The course is aimed at insolvency practitioners, lawyers and other restructuring professionals who deal with property insolvencies, at any level of experience. SPEAKERS > Amanda Eilledge is an experienced commercial chancery litigator with a thorough understanding of commercial realities having previously worked for law fi rms in both Hong Kong and Australia. She specialises in disputes involving property and has considerable expertise not only in property law issues but also in the related areas of secured lending, civil fraud and insolvency. > Henry Shinners is a partner at Smith & Williamson and has over 20 years of experience in corporate restructuring and insolvencies across a very broad range of industries including property, both in development and investment, hotels and licensed premises, healthcare, child nurseries and schools and motor dealerships. > Ian Fox is a partner in the restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy practice at Dentons UKMEA LLP, specialising in all areas of contentious insolvency work. He has signifi cant experience in restructuring and non-contentious insolvency work and has advised insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporates and directors in relation to insolvency matters. > John de Waal QC specialises in chancery and commercial work with a particular focus on property law and property related professional negligence. Fabulously commercial and userfriendly, his commercial and property experience makes him ideally placed for situations where a bankruptcy or insolvency is or may be an issue. John is recommended as a leading silk by both Chambers UK and Legal 500 for property/real estate litigation. > Jonathan Langstaff is a director at Savills and head of valuation in the north. Jonathan has extensive experience in valuing property across all sectors for major banks and lending institutions, throughout the UK. > Jonathan Titmuss is a member of Hardwicke s commercial and property and private client divisions and undertakes many areas of work within those fi elds. He specialises in insolvency, both individual and corporate, restructuring and recovery, licensed property work and residential landlord and tenant work. > Julian Clarke is a director at Savills and works in UK property across a wide range of sectors. Julian s focus is on planning and executing projects involving selection and management of teams from different disciplines with an emphasis on development and regeneration projects, asset management and opportunities for adding and realising value. > Karl King specialises primarily on property based work and has handled cases in the areas of real property, landlord and tenant as well as general contract work and professional negligence work associated with or arising from property matters. > Kevin Mersh is a director in the recoveries and receivership team at Savills and has over 30 years of experience in the commercial and residential property market in all sectors. > Matthew Dunham is a partner at Smith & Williamson and has 25 years experience in insolvency and business restructuring. Matt specialises in restructuring and recovery and is based in the North West. He has been on R3 s North West committee for six years and was also a member of R3 s Policy Group. > Matthew Nagle is a director at Savils and has extensive experience at managing teams of experts including asset and property managers, sales and letting agents, architects, building surveyors, L&T surveyors and solicitors in order to maximise achievable work out results. > Phil Collis specialises in commercial property work relating to secured lending recoveries. Based on real-life examples, the case study takes delegates through the process of solving the problems created by a failed propco-opco structure. The session considers how best to stabilise and reshape the structure of the business in order to allow it to be sold, while safeguarding vulnerable service users in a highly regulated environment.
