Happy New Year to all- Well, here we are in a New Year I might add, a rather COLD year so far, as well as WET (we do need the water, just not all at once). Our Chapter 032 Christmas Luncheon was a success, all had fun and there were gifts for all. We will be having a Guest Speaker at our 13 April 2017 meeting, we will have Jeanne Woodford - the 1st Female Warden of San Quentin State Prison and is also a former California Director of Corrections, so remember to mark your calendars. Our next chapter meeting will be on Thursday, 09 February 2017 at CARROWS Restaurant, please remember that we have social time from 11:30 to 11:55 AM and the meeting starts AT Noon. As a reminder, it is very important that you send in your reservations if you will be attending our next Chapter Luncheon Meeting on Thursday, 09 February 2017, the Luncheon Reservation is on page 4. The FINAL SHOWS WILL BE IN: Providence, RI and Uniondale, NY MAY 2017 I was very saddened to learn of the Greatest Show on Earth closing in May As a teenager, I traveled and worked with RBBB Circus (93rd & 94th Editions), The Circus Artists as well as workers were a FAMILY. I lived & traveled on the circus train, throughout this Great Country because of the Circus! Retired Public Employees Association RPEA is a non-profit association of retirees and active employees who are members of the California Public Retirement System (CalPERS). Our mission is important: RPEA represents all public employees - classified schools, public agencies, and state. RPEA is liaison between retirees and CalPERS. RPEA is a mutual protective association for all beneficiaries of CalPERS. RPEA fights to maintain our current pension and health care benefits and improve these benefits every year. RPEA has local chapters in your area - attend meetings to stay informed and hear interesting speakers. While we encourage participation in one of our 87 chapters, most of our members participate by reading our bimonthly newsletter, giving us feedback on their needs, and enrolling in one or more of our "members only" insurance programs. 5 Chapter 032 Happenings Happy New Year Hope all of you survived the Holiday Season. The cold weather has arrived after a deluge of rain and wind. On Facebook, it was mentioned that there were 52 ( at that point) days until Spring. We are all ready for that to happen. The meeting in December had 28 members and guests in attendance. The back room at CARROWS was pretty full. Sandra, our server did a grand job of taking care of us. It has probably been mentioned in this newsletter, the April 2017 Chapter Luncheon Meeting guest Speaker will be Jeanne Woodford, the first Female Warden of San Quentin State Prison as well as former Director of California Department of Corrections. President Paul was speaking to another member about his working at San Quentin and another member heard him, I was standing next to her and she asked if President Paul knew Jeanne. One thing led to another and Lynn Green got in touch with her sister. You just never know who you will meet at a meeting. That reminds me. It is never an issue if a member needs to bring a care giver to a meeting. The care giver can either drop the member off and comes back when the meeting is over or the care giver is welcome to the meeting as a guest. The cost is: $10.00 pp, Members & Guests. Chapter 004 ( Sacramento) sent President Paul their newsletter and in their newsletter, they mentioned places to eat that offer senior discounts. AARP gives a discount of 15% at Denny's. Maybe other places as well, but I know Denny's for certain. The newsletter also mentioned to go on TheSeniorList.com which lists thousands of discounts that you can search for by city, state and the category that you are interested in. If you do not have a computer, ask your children to research this for you. Grandkids too. Restaurants: Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Subway, Wendy's, Applebee's, Golden Corral, ranging from free or discounted drinks, to discounts on your entire order. Just ask. Retailers: Kohls, Michaels and Ross Stores, Joanne Fabrics, offer discounts, these stores usually have specific days of the week, Some are posted on the store front windows. The bottom line is ask, whether you are flying somewhere or eating or making a purchase. The worse they can say is no or not today. Be safe, be well, stay warm. Susan 5

6 RPEA Chapter 032 General Chapter Meeting CARROWS Restaurant, Santa Rosa, CA December 08, 2016 President Paul Tamboury called the meeting to order at 12:02 pm, Due to Assistant Area Director Bill Brennen not being able to attend due to weather conditions, President Paul asked Verne Avila(Chaplain and Past Chapter President(, to installed Judy McNamee as Chapter 032 Secretary. Immediate Past President, Mary Dorrough thanked outgoing Secretary, Susan Tamboury for being the Secretary of Chapter 032, position for the past 2 years.. Sees Candy Certificates: 16 Certificates were sold at the meeting. Treasurer s Report was given. There were 28 chapter members and guests in attendance. Vice President, Shirley Moore gave hand made ornaments for the members and guests. Thank you, Shirley. All present had a wonderful Lunch and enjoyed themselves. Members and Guests were invited to choose Chapter gifts.
