5 Chapter 032 Happenings Happy Halloween! Hello, where has the time gone? It seems like last week we were baking in the heat, now it is cool mornings and not very hot afternoons and cool evenings. I am ready, my sweaters and blankets are close by, ready to go. Paul and I just got back from General Assembly, we were there a week. I did not go to Disneyland nor Downtown Disney. We just did not have enough time. There was like an hour here and hour there, just not enough time to go and look around and get back for whatever. I was lucky enough, while Paul had an Area Directors meeting, I went down to San Diego with Paul s brother Phil and his wife, Sharon to a Greek Festival. It was a pleasant visit with them and eat Baklava. General Assembly was interesting from the standpoint that I got to meet members from all over the state. There were also a couple of Cal Pers Board Members there and I was interested in hearing what they had to say. The Workshops were on Monday as well as Vendors. I was able to see what they had to say and I got a speaker for October General Meeting. The State Board Officers are: Al Darby- President, Rosemary Knox- Vice President, Marie Reed, Secretary/Treasurer. There is a new member for Membership Director and some of the Area Directors have changed also. Look for the new Publication of the State RPEA Newsletter and the listing for the board will be there. All of the Area Directors received Certificates of Appreciation for all of the newsletters in their area. A mention of the Certificates was brought up during a waiting time at a session of General Assembly. The membership that was in attendance were appreciative that the editors were recognized. See you at the October meeting! Do you have an idea for speakers? Let Susan know and we will look into it. At the last Board Meeting, someone suggested Recology as some of the requirements for recycling have changed. Stay Happy, Susan 5
