As you interact with Vitality by getting active and making healthy choices, the Vitality points you accumulate determine your Vitality. The higher your Vitality, the greater the rewards you qualify for. Know your health Vitality recognises that everyone s health needs are different, so we offer a variety of activities to help you understand your unique health. Complete a Personal Health Review on to find out how healthy you are and earn Vitality points. You can then do a range of in-depth assessments (like nutrition, fitness and stress) to learn more about your health, which will also earn you Vitality points. Improve your health Vitality makes it easier for you to get healthier by giving you access to a range of health and fitness partners. Vitality awards you points for doing healthy activities and gives you savings at our partners to make your journey to wellness that much easier. Plus, Vitality offers tailored wellness initiatives for every stage of your life. Enjoy the rewards Vitality s rewards include savings on local and international flights, holiday accommodation, car rental and shopping savings. Because the size of your savings is directly linked to your Vitality, your rewards increase as you work with Vitality to get healthier. In addition, the DiscoveryCard gives you cash back at a wide range of partner stores and savings on international travel according to your Vitality. As you earn Vitality points, your Vitality improves You ll start at Blue and improve your as you improve your health. You ll move from Blue to Bronze, Silver, Gold and finally to the highest, Diamond Vitality. The table below shows how many Vitality points are needed to reach each. 3 Know your health Understanding your health is the first step to getting healthier To get healthier, it is important to first understand your health and what your health risk factors are. Vitality offers a range of health assessments to help you learn about your health. The Personal Health Review Complete a Personal Health Review on to find out what your health risk factors are and earn Vitality points. Vitality will help you set health goals and you ll earn Vitality points for achieving your goals. You ll also find out your Vitality Age, which is a measure of your health relative to your age. Vitality Check Vitality Check is a range of screening tests that help you identify your risk for lifestyle-related chronic conditions. Vitality Check costs R105 and this amount is paid for you from the Discovery Health Screening and Prevention Benefit. 6 DiscoveryCard The credit card that rewards you for getting healthier The DiscoveryCard is a Visa credit card that gives you cash back when you shop, helps you save on dream holidays and allows you to earn Discovery Miles. Your cash back and savings are based on your Vitality a measure of how much you interact with Vitality to improve your health. It s the only credit card that rewards you for getting healthier, and the healthier you get, the greater your rewards. Shopping savings Each month, you will get cash back for using your DiscoveryCard at our partner stores according to your Vitality. It s the smart way to shop. Your maximum discountable spend at partner stores is limited to 30% of your total DiscoveryCard spend in that statement period, with your total cash back calculated on a limit of R spend at all DiscoveryCard partner stores. Cash back at Pick n Pay You ll save up to 10% or up to 25% on all HealthyFood you buy at Pick n Pay. Plus, when you pay with your DiscoveryCard at the Pick n Pay till, you ll also get up to 10% cash back on everything you buy, depending on your Vitality and your DiscoveryCard spend. Here are some important points to note: InvestBooster Keep in mind If you have your HealthyFood saving paid into your Medical Savings Booster or InvestBooster TM, you will not get the DiscoveryCard Pick n Pay cash back. You need to have completed the Personal Health Review and be a DiscoveryCard holder on Vitality to activate the Medical Savings Booster or InvestBooster TM. Withdrawals from the Medical Savings Booster are subject to a 25% penalty when not used for medical expenses. A 25% penalty will be charged each time you do a withdrawal of funds from the InvestBooster within the first five years of activating the InvestBooster or if the value of the investment falls below R within the first five years. Withdrawals after the first five years will not be penalised. If you want to withdraw any of your InvestBooster savings in the first five years, or if you make a withdrawal so that your fund value falls below R , there will be a 25% penalty on the InvestBooster. Therefore you will effectively receive a 50% saving on HealthyFood. There will be no penalty for withdrawals after the first five years. You can either activate the Medical Savings Booster or InvestBooster but not both. Increase your saving at Virgin Active or Planet Fitness The main member and spouse can increase their 80% saving to between 90% and 100% with Visa DiscoveryCard. This extra 10% to 20% saving is also available to children and adult dependants whose monthly rate is paid with a Visa DiscoveryCard. The size of the additional 10% to 20% saving is based on your Vitality and how long you ve been on Vitality see the table above. This excludes Platinum and Classic memberships. Save up to 60% on British Airways International flights By activating the Discovery Miles benefit, you qualify for an enhanced British Airways International benefit, which gives you discounted travel based on your Vitality and monthly DiscoveryCard spend.
