RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Emergency Preparedness & Public Safety Commission Work Plan. BACKGROUND: The Woodinville Municipal Code (WMC) section 2.23 outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Commission (EPPSC). Broadly, the Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Commission is responsible for the following: "to provide policy guidance and recommendations in meeting the public safety needs of the city. The Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Commission shall advise and provide recommendations to the City Council on matters concerning emergency medical services, emergency preparedness, traffic safety issues, and such other matters as may be specified by the City Council." Annually, staff submits a commission work plan to the City Council for review to ensure the commission's work is consistent with City Council priorities. The City Council adopted its annual work plan on February 7, summarizing its major projects for the year. DISCUSSION: The Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Commission met on March 13, at its regular monthly meeting to review its annual work plan. Commissioners agreed on four (4) primary projects/project areas on which to focus their attention over the next year (see Attachment A). Those areas include reviewing the /2018 Human Services Grant usage to-date, receiving and reviewing the updated Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) and Program Roadmap, participating in the establishment of the Woodinville Emergency Resource Committee (WERC) and the Woodinville Citizen Corps as necessary. No additional items were requested by the Commission. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I MOVE THAT THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION WORK PLAN, AS PRESENTED (OR AMENDED) AND DIRECT THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO IMPLEMENT THIS DECISION.
