12 GATES All our Wrought Iron Style Steel Gates are manufactured to a very high standard in our own workshops. The hinge style and bottom rail is 40mm square steel hollow section, the closing style is 40mm x 15mm solid steel, all horizontal rails are 40mm x 10mm solid steel, main upright bars 20mm square steel hollow section, lower bars 12mm round or square solid steel. Any decorative scrollwork is formed with 20mm x 6mm flat bar. Decorative circles are formed with 20mm x 8mm bar. All hollow section is vented to allow hot zinc galvanising to be applied inside and out for complete rust protection. After hot dip galvanising the gates are acid etched and are finished with three coats of semi gloss vinyl spray paint for long term maintenance free use. We use the wrap around type hinges for the traditional look and more importantly for safety. These hinges allow the gate to pivot without decreasing the gap between the gate and post, which can be a danger point when gates are automated. All our gates are suitable for Automation, the most poplar automation system for this type of gate is underground motors asthey do not spoil the appearance of the gates as the are hidden below the road and become the bottom hinge of the gates. POSTS Posts Are available for either building into brick piers or to stand alone. The build in type are hot dip galvanised and are fitted with elongated hinges and foundation plates to carry the Gate Motors. The hinges are positioned between the piers but towards the inside of the property for safety, again to avoid entrapment between the gate and brickwork when the gate opens. There is not enough strength in brick piers alone to hang automated gates on to unless some form of reinforcing is built into the foundations and carried on up through the brickwork to tie everything together. Our Posts are normally installed together with our own or the customers builder. He would dig out the foundation holes andwe would set up the post kit in the holes with a Tripod & Spacer bar system, which allows us to set up accurately ready for hanging the gates after the brickwork is completed. When we install the posts we also run cables for accessories such as safety photocells that will be mounted on the brickwork with cables hidden inside. Stand alone posts are used when brickwork is not required. These posts are usually 150mm Square Steel Hollow section hot dip galvanised and vinyl spray painted and maintenance free. The post can be topped with Four Times Back Weathered Cappings, Ball Cappings or Outdoor Lanterns. We also manufacture & install matching Railings and Pedestrian Gates. The Railings can be full height and free standing or wall mounted and made to suit curves and slopes. The Pedestrian Gates can also be fitted with a manual lock and keys or and electronic lock triggered with a Keypad or Intercom. Pedestrian Gates can also have a gate closer fitted to make sure the gate is not left open. 12
