7 PREVIOUS SITUATION Taxpayers paid taxes and contributions to 205 different payments accounts, depending on the territory and type of the public revenue. Over 65% of counter service time was spent on servicing this tax form. Tax payers reported to Tax Administration (TA) with more than 35 different forms, leading to more than 5.5 million forms annually. Great number of mistakes occurred in tax records (human factor). 7 /33

Reduced work at the counter. Establishing effective and more stronger control, leading to a facilatated payment. Making a breakthrough towards egovernment in Serbia. 24 VALUE ADDED TAX ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION (1/2) Since April 1, 2012 electronic submission of VAT return has been enabled. Since January 1, 2014 electronic transfer of powers for submission of VAT return has been enabled. Since July 1, 2014 submission of VAT return is made strictly electronic. 24 /33

32 INTEROPERABILITY AND IINTERCONNECTIVITY The Republic of Serbia will not have difficulties in harmonising its information and communication systems from the field of taxation with the Interoperability and Interconnectivity Strategy of the European Union in order to ensure smooth exchange of information between the EU member states. 32 /33
