4 ABOUT SCV Two distinguished and long-standing chartered accountancy firms S.P. Puri & Co. and S.C. Vasudeva & Co., each holding prominent position in the profession, especially in North India has merged to form SCV & Co. with effect from 1st April Mr. Puri and Mr. Vasudeva, both qualified as Chartered Accountants in early 1960s. Mr. Puri and Mr. Vasudeva both being contemporaries reorganised and expanded their respective practices in the year 1976 with the same set of core values i.e. Integrity, Quality, Client Care and Trust. While S.P. Puri & Co, specialised in taxation and allied services, S.C. Vasudeva & Co. carved a niche for itself in the field of audit and allied services. Both the firms had humble beginning and have grown over the years in terms of service offerings and client base. The coming together of the firms is with an eye for the future, bringing tremendous synergies in operations and provides a platform to emerge as one of the premier chartered accountancy firms in India. 14 S.P.PURI Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. S. P. Puri is the founder Partner and senior most Partner of the firm. He has a rich experience of over 5 decades and has highly diverse experience is in the field of Audit, income tax representations, appeals and company law matters. Mr. S. P. Puri carries with him the degree of law and qualification as a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Mr. S. P. Puri qualified in the year 1960 and carried his practices initially on his own and then formed a Partnership firm in the year Mr. S. P. Puri with his experience has specialized in the field of interpretation of Double Tax Avoidance Agreement between India and various countries international taxation and represented before the authorities as appellate authorities Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. He has represented before the authority of advance ruling for issues for foreign companies. 15 S.C. VASUDEVA Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. S.C. Vasudeva, enrolled as a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in 1962 and founded the firm in He has an experience of over five decades in various facets of the accounting profession. He was an elected member of the Central Council of the ICAI from and from and a nominated member from He served as a member on a number of committees including, the Auditing Practices Committee, Fiscal Laws Committee, Corporate & Allied Laws Committee, Corporate Governance Committee, Internal Audit Committee. He was also the Chairman of the Accounting Standards Board (ASB), Financial Review Reporting Board (FRRB) and Committee on Accounting Standards for Local Bodies. He has also been the Chairman of the Regional Council of Northern India of the ICAI, and the President of the Income-tax Appellate Bar Association, New Delhi. He was nominated as a member of the Central Council of the Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India (ICAI), was also a co-opted member of the Accounting Standard Board of the ICAI as well as of Secretarial Standards Board of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). He was also a member of the Local Advisory Board of UJF Bank Limited, New Delhi Branch. He was also nominated by SEBI as a public representative on the Board of Delhi Stock Exchange Association Ltd. He has been the Chairman of the Taxation Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi, and the Chairman of Northern Region Chapter (NRC) of International Fiscal Association (IFA) India Branch. 16 SANJIV MOHAN Senior Partner Ludhiana, Punjab Mr. Sanjiv Mohan joined the firm as a a Partner in He trained with the firm and qualified as a chartered accountant in He is based in Ludhiana and is in-charge of the Ludhiana office. His ability to understand the business environment coupled with his sound financial and accounting background has enabled him to specialise in conducting statutory audits of companies. He has an in-depth knowledge of the spinning, tyres, paper and terry towel industry. He has also been involved in preparation of project reports for various small and medium size enterprises and has assisted them in getting their projects financed from nationalised banks. In addition to the above, he also assists clients, both individuals and corporates in preparation of their income-tax returns. He also handles income tax assessments for a few clients. 17 RAJIV PURI Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. Rajiv Puri after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in the year 1985, joined S. P. Puri & Co as a Partner in the year He is heading the audit assurance division of the firm. Under him audit assignments are carried out for various entities in India like listed companies, banks, private limited companies, liaison offices/project offices of foreign companies in India, non-corporate entities and charitable trusts & Societies. He also advises clients on Transfer pricing, company law and service tax matters. 18 SANJAY VASUDEVA Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. Sanjay Vasudeva joined the firm as a partner in He has been involved in the audit of major corporate and non-corporate clients in industries such as textiles, engineering, publishing, paper, travel, software, power, healthcare etc. and presently oversees the Assurance and Risk Advisory practice. He has also been involved in the audit of major nationalized banks, foreign banks and non-banking finance companies. He has a good exposure to the Indian Accounting and Auditing Standards and the International Financial Reporting Standards. He also has experience in handling projects funded by Multilateral Agencies such as USAID, ADB and World Bank. He has also been an active member of the Board of Governors of the Delhi Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (Florida) and was elected as the President of the Delhi Chapter in the past. 19 VIDUR PURI Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. Vidur Puri completed his training under the audit division of Price Waterhouse New Delhi. He joined the firm S. P. Puri & Co. after qualification as a Chartered Accountant in 1992.He is heading the division for international/cross border transactions including international tax and the compliance for various companies setting up business in India. Apart from inbound cross border taxation his profile includes assignments for in bound investment by way of projects, joint venture companies, setting up of subsidiaries. 20 SACHIN VASUDEVA Senior Partner New Delhi Mr. Sachin Vasudeva joined the firm as a Partner in He presently oversees the Tax Advisory, Outsourcing and Corporate Advisory Practice. Apart from advising clients (both domestic and international) on various issues under the Income-Tax Act, Wealth Tax Act and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements, he has a vast experience in handling assessment proceedings under the Income-tax Act. He also handles appellate matters before the Commissioner of Income tax (Appeals) and the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). He has a good exposure to business valuations and has handled share valuation assignments for MNCs and other listed companies in India.
