Surely nothing has changed that much since the last course I attended? As ever, the answer is yes and no There are new versions of FRS 102 and 105 becoming effective for periods commencing 1 January 2019, and we will make sure that we prepare you for, in many cases, the limited number of differences that are in these new versions The remainder of the two sessions will be spent reminding ourselves that we no longer apply the principles of SSAPs, FRSs and, yes, even the FRSSE. Sadly, there is evidence that some accounts issued fall into the trap of if it ain t broke, don t fix it and apply old GAAP inconsistent with the new guidance this will include aspects of revenue recognition, fixed assets (tangible and intangible), provisions including deferred tax, financial instruments and disclosures including related parties.
