5 FRS 102: Practical Scenarios and How to Deal with Them WEDNESDAY 15 NOVEMBER 2017 IVY HILL HOTEL 09:15-12:45 Peter Herbert, Insight Training This course considers some of the specific issues arising from the implementation of FRS 102 and includes several worked examples to help participants understand the practical impact on the financial statements. This is likely to include: Property issues including investment properties and those within PPE together with related deferred and current tax issues Intangibles and business combinations including website and software development expenditure; goodwill both positive and negative Consolidations including piecemeal acquisitions Cash flow statements Financial instruments including financing transactions and forward exchange contracts Other areas, such as, equity instruments, lease accounting and revenue recognition Recent and pending changes to FRS 102 CP287 Money Laundering Where are we Now? WEDNESDAY 15 NOVEMBER 2017 Peter Herbert, Insight Training After a long period of consultation, June 2017 finally saw the publication by HM Treasury of new Money Laundering Regulations, effective for regulated businesses from 26 June 2017 and also new BEIS rules on the Persons with Significant Control (PSC) regime which applies for all companies and LLPs from 26 June This course will explain the impact of the new regulations in detail. Feedback from ICAEW and ACCA inspectors often suggests that firms of accountants do not comply as well as they should with their obligations in relation to the money laundering regulations. We will remind and update participants on exactly what they need to do to comply and where firms often go wrong. The course will also provide an insight into common money laundering and fraud offences that affect SMEs and how to spot them. The new Money Laundering Regulations what they are and how they affect practitioners Where firms go wrong regarding anti-money laundering and how to put these problems right PSC register update The meaning of fraud and its implications for business Different types of fraud that affect accountants and their clients and how to stop them happening An insight into recent NCA cases and what accountants can learn from them Practical guidance on essential anti-fraud controls needed in ownermanaged businesses and charities Update on cybercrime what it is and how to address the warning signs CP288 5
